Tottenham

Sadly I wish we could fast forward to May. We all know what will happen and it is heartbreaking to watch. Not feeling my best right now, but hope to make it to Carrow Rd in March for family catch up.

I feel so sorry for those who made the effort to go tonight ,and had to watch the ‘great escape’ crumble before it had even started

Poor week especially with other results. At least West Ham got smashed.

annoying that it’s an fa cup weekend and not a league game.

It’s annoying as it sounded like we played well tonight and created enough chances to draw the game, same old story though fortunately.

I was saying just don’t lose but we did and that 6 point (7 really) just seems too much.

How did rupp do? I read he was okay but not as classy and skilful as emi and shouldn’t be seen as his replacement

He did ok, looked like he could be good for us but like you said he isn't a replacement for Emi. He also had to decent chances but missed the target both times.

We deserved more than what we got from this game. Cantwell was lucky not to get sent off though. Probably the first VAR in our favour.
It felt like the same story every week. Decent play, failed to take our chances with some defensive naivety (although an improvement on earlier in the season). My biggest frustration if how we would sometimes give the ball away so cheaply. Simple passes that are given away.

Just back home. Managed to get 10.30 train instead of booked 11.30
although had to stand entire 2 hours.

We did ok and as Spuds are so poor we should have got a draw.
Not seen replays of pen and possible red card but both seemed borderline.

It was clear after pen we would not hold out but the second goal was very
fortunate for Spuds.
After that and 3 subs that made no difference at all we fizzled out again.

Good day out and pubs were great but the 90 minutes of the game out of the 15 hours was the least enjoyable.

Rupp looked decent enough but, he’s no Emi but then again who is? I’m starting to think that Buendia is THE most naturally talented player I’ve ever seen in yellow & Green. Previously I’d say Hoolahan was that man but Emi’s has pace and strength to go with the skills.
We missed Emi hugely, which is no surprise and Spurs were pretty poor. Had they been playing a top side then they would’ve shipped 4 or 5.
Rupp’s late effort on goal was going in but deflected just wide by a Spurs player with Lloris not moving, so close and Pukki missed at least 3 chances which by his normal standards he might’ve taken but he didn’t even hit the target.
A nice day out with mates and found a great little pub by the ground with an “award winning” burger but would’ve been better with 3 points. I didn’t seriously have this down as an away win though...

Expect more of the same for the rest of this sorry season . Plenty of Championship quality endeavour, missed chances and defeat after defeat . I don’t hold out much hope for Newcastle away , and (especially) Liverpool at home . The relegation trapdoor has opened a bit further after last nights defeat

We've only got to win half our remaining games:bounce:.

I picked up a virus and crawled out of my sickbed just as we were awarded the pen, Oh happy days I thought nearly on target; then they scored:arrghh:

Just one point, I saw on the BBC live text a comment about Son Heung-Min dangerous play. Then, nothing. For a fleeting unsporting moment I was thinking we would be against ten men and their goal scorer wouldn't have been on the pitch.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

Great article Tuckster.
We have a different approach to away games than most supporters.
Firstly we are not interested in going to pubs near the ground either full or
home fans ( not allowed in anyway in most cases ) or away fans singing whilst drinking crap beer in plastic glasses.
Our aim is to find proper pubs with good beer and save the singing for the ground. ( 90 minutes of singing is tiring so do not waste time singing in pubs where you team cannot hear you ).

So our party of 4 were booked on 11 am train and managed to get into the designated first pub by 1.30 to meet Miss DG Junior who had booked the afternoon off work ( although unable to get a ticket for the game ).
We always end up not having anything to eat so I had booked a table in a quiet pub which is not open weekends so was our first visit.
For fans who appreciate beer this is a St Peters brewery pub with all their range on draft and was a great venue. Located in Farringdon.

I used to work in Holborn so we then went on to another 3 great pubs and met up with an old uni mate of mine from Tottenham for a short while and then got train from Liverpool Street to WHL at about 6.00 pm
This gave us a lot more time than our usual last minute entrance which was
required due to the security checks and somewhat unfortunate away fan
entrance area down a cul de sac.

Their is no denying this is a great stadium but due to modern day fans and Spurs poor form, the atmosphere in terms of home fans was about as bad as their current team.
The overpriced fizzy crap beer is a novelty and we had more than enough proper beer so looked at the way it was poured and were glad not to have it.

The game. By now everybody will have seen it so will leave it as yet another example of poor finishing and defensive laps resulting in yet another defeat where we thought we should have done better. Sadly other teams do it
( Burnley for example ) so we remain adrift.

No Norwich replays on giant screens until the end.

We decided to queue up at WHL station and managed to catch a crowded train just in time to get 10.30 at Liverpool Street.
There was no 11.00 train so we had booked 11.30 and paid for first class upgrade but as we jumped ahead onto a busy train had to stand up for entire 2 hour journey without food or drink since 6.00.

Luckily we got a lift home and was back in my house by 1.00 am.

As usual a very good day out which was not ruined by the football as we all know that the Smiff's selfish control and no spending policy will lead to relegation and have accepted that and defeats before setting off for aways.

As always we are 2 good signings away for getting these desperately required points and with each game the frustration increases.

Great write up, DG. Glad you enjoyed your day, as I did mine, football aside. Mind if I post this on the front page?

Thanks Tuckster.
Yes that is fine.

Immediate reaction was not to go to Chelsea, Arsenal and Watford, which are grounds I have been to several times but will probably end up going to all 3.

Just listening to Dave Freezers post game report.
He says Mc Clean was excellent !!!

Tuckster would you agree with that ?

McLean is Championship quality at the best along with most of the team . But that’s no problem as the Championship is where we will be playing next season
