Things Afoot

It struck me that there is a logic. Any buyer has to deal with the Ashley "loan".

We know Ashley restructured some of the "loan" to make it repayable on demand. We also know that generally, players are bought for a cash price. The club's cash position has been adversely affected by selling players on instalments.

Timing of the cash flows and our trading on loan players means that Ashley has probably taken North of £30 million out.

In very broad terms, there should be a cash surplus of over £50million over a Premier League season but of course if you knock off 75% of the Mitrovic fee for future instalments, that figure is reduced. The flip side is that Sissoko is still generating cash for the club.

Also, the bulk of the TV money comes at the end of the season.

With the various alleged approaches, it has not been clear if the Ashley "loan" is a part of a price for NUFC or is on top.

The likes of Fulham, Brighton, Huddersfield, Palace etc have bought players against future income in the same financial year. By going back to the banks, the value of transfers to the club becomes neutral. If a price has been agreed, let's say with Kenyon and his consortium, it gives more time for the buyer to conclude a deal on the same terms.

It might be wishful thinking but at least the mechanism is in place to be able to agree transfer activity with potential new owners.

He will not relinquish his hold on the club, future advertising, merchandise sales etc and is a notorious difficult, arrogant **** to deal with. It would take someone to come in with a ridiculous fee for him to sell outright, double what's been qouted so probably daft money like 5-600 million.
In short, the fat lying parasite has no intention of selling.

Maybe, maybe not. Seeing his select committee hearings, it is clear where Ashley's passion is. I have felt for a long time that if the right things come up in retail, he could shift his cash.

This season we have seen his activity on House of Fraser, Debenhams, Evans Cycles, HMV, Patisserie Valerie, Games and maybe more.

Further to what McNamee was saying. Kieran Maguire who does the very useful Price Of Football twitter account has tweeted the following . Loan from Barclays to be repaid out of future tv money .

For once it looks like we'll be involved on the last day of the window with something like 8 - 10 deals in the offing.

Aside from the confirmation of Almiron and Burreca, there's a chance of Samaris as well. It's also mentioned in French media that Anthony Limbombe is coming in on loan.

Cal Roberts is joining Colchester on loan with the potential for Joselu to go out if we get a striker replacement in. Hayden and Murphy look likely to be away on loan if the potential incomings happen.

Aside from that, we could also do next to nowt.

Interesting point from Shearer on MOTD.Said the club had to do something as people were threatening to cancel season tickets. If true,if only the 52000 had boycotted years ago we could of been rid of the fat twat by now.

Mike 'just enough' Ashley does it again

Spot on that, if it happens, a couple of loan nothing players and a record signing less than what we got for Mitrovic and a few million more than what we paid for Owen in 2005.

Sadly that's all it takes for most to renew season tickets.

I'm warming to Rexn's explanation above but the cynical side to me believes the signing today (begrudgingly by Ashley or is it Barclays) and one on-loan signing is far from being enough. Down to the last day it really is pathetic and don't bet against more outgoings than incomings today.

Congratulations to Almiron. His signing makes us the first Premier League club to have had 2 Parguayans on the books. Who would have bet on our record signing having his debut potentially at Wembley?
