The Summer transfers/rumours thread

Well push the boat out and get Cahill back, he is fed up at Chelsea, we are a big club [murphy], the current england manager is an old boy

Maybe, but maybe he thinks well JT came, GS is england boss and maybe he still has us in his heart. There are few PL clubs bigger than Villa, Pieman gone, get rid off MR etc ....

He can talk to clubs in January as his contract is up at the end of the season. Still a good shout for next season .... or rip us his contract hahaha

We could not afford Cahills wage, said to be £130k a week.
He will either go to an established Premiership team, or go abroad to a top team.

An established top 6 - 8 team who need a centreback could be Man U, Arsenal or Spurs.
Given the choice between Everton, who finish regulary in the top 8, or a team who are a championship also ran, guess which he's likely to pick.

Football is full of surprises, like SB turning out to Not be the one [what a surprise]. Maybe with a new man at the helm, maybe he would come back if he believed in the project. Anyway, if he does then well and good, if he doesnt he doesnt.

I'm sure he'd drop £80k a week in wages when entering the final two or three years of his career, anyone would, wouldn't they. Or is that only in a Big 'O' song?

You want to shore up the defence you got to pay and anyway maybe he would take a small drop. Pieman gone, Richards gone next summer and Gateman out on loan [wonder if he stills gets a £1m bonus] if we got promoted.
Huth,Samba,Collins .... er no

Cahill is already 32 - not too many clubs going to give him anything like current £130k pw.

I just don’t see any way why Cahill would drop down a division when he could play for any bottom half club easily?
