The Official Newport County Match Thread (Sponsored by Tony Pulis "for all your Newport needs")

Headlines already Daily Mail

Gillingham fan is 'arrested and given a lifetime ban' after vile racist gesture targeting Newport County goalscorer Omar Bogle... just weeks after the club was handed a £12K fine by the FA for racist and sexist chanting

For me. If Harris had to go then surely Jackett and Hess should have gone as well.
Poor summer recruitment, with key areas not addressed, lack of leaders on the pitch (as Harris said before he was sacked), and trying to change the style of play to a slow passing across the back out from the goalie style when our players are not comfortable enough on the ball under pressure to be able to do this.

In what, the last 12 months?

- Colchester: racism - charged
- Sutton: sexism - charged
- AFC Wimbledon: sexism - charged

Weren’t we then put on final warning? Then:
- Sutton: pyro - no charge yet?
- MK Dons: homophobia- no charge yet?
- Notts County: missile - no charge yet
- Today

Today was a loner. Sexism and pyro were to me a group issue, having stood near them. Who knows the vape and Col U one (I still dispute the latter)

Too many. Who else has had that many?!

Oh dear, another dismal performance.

Predictably, Millen put another overly defensive line-up on the field - against a team that has conceded a boat load of goals and is in poor form. Not impressed.
Would even have been worthwhile putting Max up front half way through the second half - three shots on goal over 90+ mins is not good enough.

When Steve Lovell did his temporary stints he was positive, with the line-ups and with attacking intent - and why wouldn`t he - he was in Temporary charge. Why doesn`t Millen do the same ? Is it him or is he being told by someone elsehow to line-up the team ? Makes you wonder.

Few if any of us will be aware of exactly what is going on behind the scenes, but i`m disappointed with the time being taken to appoint a new Head Coach. I`m also a bit disappointed that KJ (or even AH) hasn`t been bold enough to stand in for NH until the next appointment is made. Other than being reluctant to put reputations on the line, I cannot imagine a reason why we haven`t utilised the team management experience already at the club. Are we lacking in in positivity ?

This was like a repeat of the Colchester game with an identical lack of any apparent ability to get back into the game. Why do they look so utterly lacking in skill at home compared with away at Swindon ? I’m baffled.
Newport were gifted the game today, we gave them the first and the second is a dubious decision from the ref, but credit to them for how they saw out the game. They hunted in packs and got a lot of bodies behind the ball, I thought they defended really well. We did a lot of our attacking on the break against Swindon which wasn’t possible today against Newport and in all honesty we never looked like scoring. As others have said the incident with the supporter has made what was an already horrible day ten times worse.

I'm thoroughly despondent after that. What a game to pick for my first of the season! (Have any of them been much better?)

We played some nice football at times but it was sooo slooow and any half-decent defence can stay organised enough to stop us scoring. I think we had one shot on target, the Bonne one on one after what, 12 minutes? The second half was one-way traffic but Bogle came closer to scoring (and should have done with the header near the end) than any of our players.

Talking of Bogle, what a contrast between him and Bonne. Newport gave him decent service and he brought others into play, while we hit Bonne from all heights and angles and he seemed on a different page from everyone else. If it's true we were in for Bogle in the summer, perhaps we got the wrong man. Or maybe he'd look just as bad in our current team.

As for the incident in the Rainham End, I'm beyond despair. Perhaps those who ran to the front need to take a long hard look at themselves too: they make it easier for the worst elements of our so-called support to hide. I am at least encouraged that the racist was sent on his way with the reaction he deserved.

Bogle booed by some sections of the crowd after his celebration of the second pen, obviously didn't see the incident after the first. Racist twat was escorted out to a chorus of derision middle and left of RE
I was in the Medway stand and saw the incident but some in the RE may not have. I thought there was contempt from the crowd (better word than derision) towards the racist

Maybe, because at home, the onus to attack rests more heavily with us and our toolbox is missing a couple of really sharp objects up front. Frustration can negatively effect the most skilful of players.

On your last point - does look to me like the bald bloke behind the racist, in the right of the frame, is finding it all really funny.

Just got home after a 190 miles round trip. Cant believe this is the same side I saw at Swindon on Tuesday ............ and that was only a 182 miles round trip. I can just about take bad luck or lucky opposition goals, but we just weren't in it today. Where was the passion, or the leadership on the pitch ?? It was non-existent today. Where do I apply for a refund ??

Lost for words to describe today
Brainless first penalty
Dubious second
Moron in the crowd
Second half definitely sending the sleeping giant into a coma
Due to family and work commitments it’s literally a month before I see another game which pisses me off but then after today who knows anyway time for a few drinks to get over today
Hopefully onwards and upwards gutted I wasn’t at Swindon
