As I said in my original posts when he signed. His stats and career to date (bearing in mind he was a week away from being 28 when he signed) said to me he was nowhere near premier league standard. Think about it , 28 and not even a run of the mill premier league team such as a Bournemouth or Burnley has taken him on . Totally naive thinking from Smith based on EFL work with him at Brentford.
And I do not care if it made sense because of Gardner. It was a waste of a wage and squad number. And I was totally correct as it turns out.
Don‘t blame him for joining, of course he would !.
And let’s not forget that this was the pre cursor to a flawed transfer policy that was a goal line technology fcuk up from relegation.
