…pitch inspection thread

Anyone know if we’ve got the covers on the pitch? My lawn (7.4 miles from the hallowed Priestfield turf) has refused to take a stud, fork or pointy twig all day despite a relatively sunny day and relatively warm afternoon.

What do we think are the chances of a postponement on Saturday?

We’ll have our advertising boards on. Those bastards will stop any thaw

As our resident expert in footballing matters you should know the answer to that, Shirley?

Weather app says 6 degrees celcius on Saturday, so we should be good.

According to my superior weather app, max temp is 5 degrees centigrade (or celsius to the likes of you) with it only going above zero from 8:28am.

If the covers haven’t been on it could be a close call.

My superior cover knowledge is telling me we don’t have to worry about whether they’ll be on or not, they’ll definitely be on.

The game will definitely be off, so don’t bother turinng up.
Then I can have a beer without queuing, not have to stand up, just because Block 4 say I have to, know they’ll be food at halftime, and go for a slash knowing that men haven’t been there before who have the aiming ability of Macauley Bonne!

Tbh it suits me if it was to be postponed. I have the Canterbury 10 Mile run on Sunday morning, so in two minds whether to stand in the freezing cold for two hours watching, or rest up and relax with it on ifollow.

Hmmm, maybe I’ll do a poll...

9/5 .

Not all lost though, as if GFC have a pitch issue there`s a new lawn at FG Rovers....

Just got off of a Teams call with the Met Office’s top people. Forecast is improving all the time so I’m confident it will be on. There’s a significant wind chill factor but if the ground is under covers that shouldn’t be an issue. Hopefully the temp doesn’t drop too much during the game itself (best make sure Scally has paid the electric bills).

Anyone know if the ground staff do anything like blow hot air under the covers or run warm water through them? I expect this would be specialist machinery we’d only bring in to safeguard a big fixture (e.g. Villa in 2009 (JFC! That’s 15 years ago!)).

I think they just get Scally to do a team talk, and that’s the hot air sorted!

Swindon’s home game against Tranmere has been postponed. This despite them having the pitch under covers with hot air being pumped in. Similar forecast to Gillingham tomorrow.

Hopefully it’s merely a case of the sister-shafting pig faced kuntz putting the covers on too late.

Yep, for some, such omissions can top life`s long list of regrets. However, I don`t see what their private lives has to do with football and the County Ground.
