The future ........

But maybe he's there as much to pass on his experience as to fight for a team place.

Old pros can be great to have around.

Also, like Cook says...... Roberts has never let him (or us) down.

Quote from fans forum "In January we are signing players for now" then we will sign players for the future.
What's this Robert's signing about then not exactly on plan is it .....?
Or maybe it's the future - for our seniors walking football team rather than the first team !

That's were Rooney started going wrong - too many old pros ;)

Hopefully we can get safe with one or two games to spare, if so then Cook has no excuse to not give a couple of them gametime.

As for Lang he has a big pre season ahead of him. If he doesn’t impress and show enough to at least get on the bench come the start of the season, then it’s time to sell while his value is high. He’s not a baby anymore and I suspect he’ll attract serious interest from FL clubs.

Cook said that was the plan at the forum - if we are lucky enough to get safe early.

Unfortunately the fall out between Lang and the club over his new contract meant we didn't use him in preseason and he ended up out on loan - who knows he could've been a first team regular for us if the circumstnaces were different but i can see him being considered a first teamer for us heading into next year - 10 goals without starting every game and mostly from attacking midfield is a great achievement for the lad and will earn him a chance.

Cook said at the forum Roberts would be around for a few more years, he said Gary was a good pro in the dressing room and his experience helps the young lads especially after we've been missing some of that following the departures of the likes of Hunt, Perks, Elder who were all apparently big characters behind th scenes. According to Cook.

Can't complain at that he's also probably dirt cheap on wages and give him credit he scored 2 crucial goals against Villa and Blackburn to get the ball rolling in those wins when so many other players missed much easier chances.

Have we been beating away interest from rival Championship sides for Garys signature or is he a scouser, Cooks mate and cheap?
Didnt hear any rumours in the window of any Championship sides after him.

Are we only allowed to sign people who other teams are also desperate to sign?

For all you know, he's on tuppence ha'penny a week.

Has he let us down this season at all?

The twitter reaction from the rest of the team shows the level of feeling and regard toward him.

Take heed from Bobby McFerrin .............. Don't worry, Be happy.
?

Now that's why young Reece James is so good then, it's the influence of Gary Roberts.
We picked a point up against Stoke rather than we dropped two home points against a poor Stoke side.

Though you're not meaning to be, you might actually be right there. After all, there must be some good reason why he'd want to stay at a struggling club, managed by a pisshead and his mates, run by a bunch of amateurs and playing alongside a bunch of players who aren't good enough for this standard.

Yep ........ it must be Gary.
:halo:
