I DONT TAKE THE DAILY FRIGGING MAIL :19: :19:
My wife occasionally takes the Express, I read the Telegraph on line.
Naughtie and Robinson are like Dimbleby as left as they come, they even admit that when Blair won the Election Champagne Bottles littered the BBCs corridors, they refer to ISIS as Militants not Terrorists
You have a bee in your bonnet about the Daily Mail I don't care I am not debating the merits of the Mail
I was making a point about the lunatic who has taken control of what was once a great Political Party and how Socialism has failed everywhere it's been tried.
The Daily Fail sucks, it's pants, it's worse than the Sun :35:
You really shouldn't be broadcasting the fact that you buy the Express.
Buying the Express falls somewhere between being caught in flagrante with a sheep and being a Civil Servant on the embarrassment spectrum.
Don't worry though; no one reads this thread so your secret will be safe.
Socialism has not failed everywhere it has been tried; the examples you have given are nothing to do with Socialism.
Russia, East Germany and Cuba were/are Communist Dictatorships that had nothing whatsoever to do with democracy in any shape or form.
You could have mentioned China in your list of phoney Socialists but we cant mention that, what with Gideon sucking up to them like he does.
Seems a bit odd that one of the Worlds largest economies cannot summon up the money or the know how to build its own Power Stations and has to go cap in hand to a totalitarian state to bail it out; never mind, think of all the cheap steel we will soon be getting.
You could make a case for claiming Capitalism has failed and continues to fail.
What you have now is state sponsored manipulation of the financial markets and record levels of Sovereign and personnel debt; not really a great endorsement of the free market, is it?
What about Enron or Lehman Brothers?
Failures of Capitalism or just bad luck?
What about the Socialist Republic of Jersey?
Population around 90000 yet currently runs a Budget deficit of £145m.
I'm not certain but I don't think the overspend will be down to benefit tourists or NGO's supporting one parent lesbians from Beirut, but you never know.
I think a lot of people will soon be revising their views on Capitalism.
It wont take much to effect such a revision; erosion of savings and investments, falling house prices and little or no credit.
Its all happened before, in fact it usually happens every 7 or 8 years on average; doesnt look like there are too many options left for the people in charge to take next time though, and that is when the fun will start.
