Tactical simulation and tactical fouling..

Concerning time wasting in general, why not just stop the bleeding clock. It's not rocket science!

I don't like it but ever since I was a kid all the best teams use cheating tactics to win.

All the best teams do it. I remember Juve using similar tactics against us the season before last. The Chavs have always been cheats.

Like it or not the best teams that win trophies on a regular basis lie, cheat and steal. Being nice and playing by the rules gets you know where.

The longer everyone condones it, glorifies it even the more the spirit of the game decays...it would be a start if the more obvious cheating techniques were tackled first like CBs looking like bad actors in a porn film by wrapping themselves around CFs from behind...I even remember our much revered Jan pulling someone’s shorts down to their knees..it was funny but it wasn’t in the spirit of the game....I agree that you can’t sanitise the game completely but you can enforce the rules.

We can't trust the FA of the refs to do anything about it, so we are left with 3 options:
1. Continue as we do, allowing Pool and ManC to have their advantage.
2. Utilize the same tactics.
3. Hope Poch pulls a Mourinho and start calling them out in the press, week in, week out.

Scenario 3 would be brilliant . I would love to see that . SAF used that a lot as well . Maureen perfected it . as he would .
Time wasting is actually unsportsmanlike behaviour, as is simulation . Both are being condoned by referees because they are not being carried out in the time honoured way anymore . The old values are are being eroded.
Referees have let the practice to continue because they are either incompetent , which I don’t believe , are not instructed properly or frightened of the consequences . I believe the last two .
Time wasting and simulation are both cautionable OFFENCES. But as Muttley has been banging on about ,quite correctly , recently , refs are doing everything in their power to keep players ON the field uncautioned , unless your name is Lamela and then you are an easy target .
How many times have we seen the ref theatrically point to his watch when a player is blatantly time wasting but do nothing about it . The only players that do get cautioned are goalkeepers , easy , simple targets who are very very unlikely to rack up enough cards , ( or get booked twice in a game) to warrant suspensions .
You are right Pollo, it’s a great thread . What worries me is that if we all can see it , how come the powers to be can’t see it , or if they can , why do they not act on it , it’s not just connected to the PL , it’s a worldwide problem.
 
Sir Alex and Jose were massive cheats. The amount of times Fergie's teams would bully the officials, Scholesy doing his can't tackle routine, time wasting.

Jose's teams would always do dive, time waste, kick and punch when the refs weren't looking.

It's been going on for over one hundred years.

More rules means more ways too cheat. It will never change.
 
Not many years ago we were playing the chavs at our place . Harry had the ball , very near the “dug out “ area . He was screening the ball from two of the chavs when he was put to the ground and Terry kicked him on the base of the spine . Absolutely nothing was given in the way of a foul or punishment for the kick , even though it was under the linesman’s and fourth officials noses .
At half time , that prick Michael Owen was asked about the incident , and did he think it was a red card . “ well” , he said, “ there was no studs involved so I don’t think we can make much of it “.

This post has nothing to do with this thread but only illustrates what a scumbag Terry was and what a prat Owen was . But I’ve got it off my chest . Ha ha

Too true.

That being said, the commentators and pundits are choosing to ignore stuff they should be mentioning and playing down other things. Phil Neville touched on it in the women's WC when he said that they had all been advised to tone it down. So you've clearly got a mafia in the governing bodies and a protective old boys network in the media as well as the officials ignoring the rules. Happy days !!!
