Summer 2018 Pitch watch

The top will be planted on top of that rootzone/sand mix then stitched with enforcing yarn/fibres every 20-40mm or so.

In theory making the pitch more capable to withstand heavy usage and giving the pitch that "greener" look all year round. With this sun we are getting at the moment and keeping this watered once down the roots will anchor really well and very quickly. It really is perfect conditions at the min.

That system has been installed previously in like 5 days, 6 weeks is more than enough

I suppose one thing with a new pitch being laid is the new owners aren't planning on bulldozing the ground and building a hotel/casino complex on it :wahey:

Yes it’s different since the first ever pitch at the dw. The first was a desso hybrid this is the first time we have had one since but the technology has moved on a lot since. Fingers crossed for a brilliant playing surface next season

I find it fascinating reading your reports on the pitch hope you can keep us up to date.
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT BEING MORE GREEN

I never knew we had a Desso originally - what happened for us to remove it?

League One
Winner – Rotherham United
Highly Commended – Blackburn Rovers
Highly Commended - Milton Keynes Dons

The Blackburn pitch always looked good from a distance but I'm sure Cook said the pitch was a bit iffy and even Blackburn themselves at times commented on the pitch not being the best.

I think our ground staff deserve a lot of credit for keeping our pitch in good shape over the last 12 months, it's not perfect but with the fixture congestion, ground share, drainage issues ontop of the weather they have a tough job. Compared to past years I think last seasons pitch seems to have caused the fewest problems and looked pretty decent throughout. So hats off to the unsung heros of the ground staff as if we didn't have a decent playing surface it would've made playing Cooks style much tougher.

Having a lush surface may not be a great thing next season, as we'll be facing sides who can actually pass a football and have been doing so for many seasons, instead of these 3rd tier cloggers who just hoof and hope.

To be fair i'd fancy us to get more results against good sides on a nice pitch able to play our style of football rather than trying to drag those sides into playing a more direct game - as we are a bit rubbish at long ball.

Noticed this picture on Twitter.

Not certain myself, but the tent on the right looks like something to do with the fibre pitch "stitching" by SIS.
Maybe JJ_wafc can elaborate ?
