Tonight's (Wednesday) game against Dundee has been postponed due to the weather warnings in place by the MET Office on account of the snow. Really it's great for us though! This allows our players to get back fit or to be even more ready for the weekend's game against Greenock in the Scottish Cup.
Lustig is now likely to miss the Rangers game after his red card last weekend, he would have been back from suspension had the Dundee game been on but as it's postponed, that means he will start his suspension a game later. Anthony Ralston has been back in training so it will be interesting to see if he's brought back in against Morton or at least on from the bench so he can be given some time to be ready before the Rangers game.
The alternative is that we continue with a 3 at the back but that isn't always working at the moment, it depends how teams are setting up against us so it's good to have alternatives or flexibility.
It was expected that Ajer would miss the Dundee game with a swollen eye after being battered by Aberdeen last weekend. With Lustig also out, it seemed as though it was going to be Hendry in for Lustig on the right of a back 3 and Marvin Compper would return on the left of the back 3 in place of Ajer. Alternatively Tierney could have filled in if we didn't want to risk Compper. It would mean that Sinclair or Musonda may have had to play more of a wing back role which isn't really their thing, but there is always the option of Calvin Miller as well. He's well suited to that role and I don't think I've ever seen him and Tierney play at the same time.
Elsewhere, Roberts is ready to make his return to the team but unfortunately Armstrong and Griffiths are going to be out for a bit longer than initially expected.
The game against Morton should hopefully be a chance for a few of the fringe/returning players to play. It could still be too soon for Ralston but this is a game where we should see Compper and Roberts and possibly a bit more of Kouassi and Miller too. Musonda may get a start and be allowed to show what he can do, giving Forrest or Sinclair a bit of rest while up front it's a toss up between Dembele and Edouard. Rogic may continue his return from injury.
