Anyone know which position Rees played in midfield for Bromley?
Durham, you are talking out your arse, again. We had spent big sums of money on transfer fees and in big wages (at the time) and long contracts on Paul Smith, Hess, Ashby, Butters, Akinbiyi, SBT and Asaba
The sale of Tony Butler gave the funds to buy Akinbiyi. The sale of Akinbiyi and Corbett for around £1.75m gave us the funds to buy the majority of the promotion side. The sale of Taylor provided the main funds for the likes of Hope and others in the Championship side.
The vast majority of our signings were funded by player sales.

And how come we didn’t need to set aside £500k a year from players sales to club running costs back then? The sales of players (Corbett aside) that we had spent big money on initially. Who did we sell to buy Akinbiyi, Ashby, Smith, Hess?
Ehmer used to score the 4/5 and he hasn't scored for a few seasons.

At the end of the first season, we sold just over £300k worth of players of whom the majority was Tony Butler. This bought Hess and Bryant.
When we bought Butters in October, this was around the time we had a selling out 2-2 cup draw with Coventry. Ten thousand tickets at £20 plus food would more than cover the Butters fee.
Akinbiyi in January? Back of the 3rd round FA Cup home tie against Derby. Similar numbers and situation to Butters and the Coventry match.
I am unable to verify how many more season tickets we sold in Pulis's second season as a result of the promotion.
Most transfers after that generally was the reinvestment from the money made from the Akinbiyi and Corbett sales.
Problem is for every Brighton there's a Stockport County, Wrexham, York City etc etc. Should we be envious of Brighton or grateful we're not Stockport ? You choose.
What PS clearly forgot to calculate was all of those players were on good money, that we couldn't afford.
Is that not exactly what we are doing now and have continually done since we dropped out of the Championship in 2005?If we didn't then we'd only sign non-league players and people on here would moan about only signing players from non-league and we'd be doing a Barnet.
