Postponements

The article says £4k per round of testing. Even just looking at L1 and L2 thats £384k per week at 2 rounds per week. £3m won't fund the season and I imagine Championship would need funding too.

I suppose there's a tiny bit of hope that the need for testing will reduce in time.

It would be inappropriate to think about privately funding vaccine I think given greater need elsewhere. Without knowing costs there's a possibility that would be more cost effective but not immediately effective so still a problem now.

Just out of interest. There have been several players and managers, club officials etc throughout the Premier and EFL who have been diagnosed with covid.
As anyone heard of any refs or match officials who have had covid?
I can't say I gave heard of any surely there must be some?

Hi Ruskington
Have a think about it who in their right mind is going to hug & kiss any of the Officials for the decisions some of them make. They are pretty safe from Covid on match days. :wagging: :ROFLMAO:

Just noticed Wigan next two games postponed due to covid. Includes their game vs Hull, due to have been played Saturday.

and the first of the free midweeks goes by, with no catch up games played. but 3 extra postponements added. then L1 has cup weekend, with 8 more postponed fixtures to slot in somewhere.

It’s odds on there will be more postponements as the infections increase. Just got to hope they sort out the vaccines, and they work 🤞🤞

I hope I don’t get blasted for being too off topic but I am fascinated by the situation of the Northern Premier league and Covid. Today is 4th Jan and Lincoln united have played only 7 league matches with a further 12 postponed (and counting) With the entire league suspended until 18th Jan I can’t see their season completing in April as planned. That will be the second season of football scrapped off.

I was looking at those lower leagues recently too. Basically, they will have to be cancelled.

If they get any chance to play again I think they should try something like the cricket did last summer, maybe split the league to groups of 4 and play like a World Cup style tournament

How's the ground temperature in Lincoln at the moment? The South Park end often struggles when there's a really hard frost. Is there any suggestion tomorrow's game is in doubt?

The government did say that the vaccines were not going to be available privately in the UK so that all domestic supplies could be allocated on a medical priority basis (a truly socialist decision) but I have noticed that some rich people are still managing to queue jump probably by sourcing grey market vaccines. Some people really are parasites.
