Port Vale (H) highlights

Watched it pretty much frame by frame. Taylor is the one leaning into Rushworth with both arms around his back and is making no attempt to play the ball. Rushworth whilst disorientated and gone into headless chicken mode is at least trying to locate the ball as he is being thrust bodily to the ground. Have we appealed this and if not, why not.

It’s instructive how many at the time immediately assumed it must be a penalty as Rushworth had lost the ball, tried to recover and the striker went to the floor. Worse, many people then watched the replay and still couldn’t see how Taylor had conned the ref. Shows what a difficult job referees have, and how strongly the culture that strikers are ’entitled’ to go down if touched has taken hold.
It’s a pity the Club, for whatever reason, chose not to appeal.
Justice was done by the result on Saturday, let’s hope Jordan Wright takes his opportunity and plays well tonight.

I never thought it was a penalty and am more certain now. But we are safe from relegation so I figure the club decided that it was pointless appealing . It gives Wright a game and Rushworth only misses one match.
