Pompey’s Toughest So Far?

How can we not be happy? Mid-September and Pompey are still unbeaten in League One and second only to this afternoons hosts, Peterborough. You can’t tell me you wouldn’t have taken this at the start of the season, right?

I would suspect today’s game is going to be our toughest so far though? Give Peterborough an inch and I’ve little doubt they’ll take a mile. Therefore, we’ve got to defend very well, individually and collectively, silly mistakes will be punished, most likely punished severely.

Andre Green didn’t have the most effective afternoon in the draw with Shrewsbury last week; the Aston Villa loanee was hauled off at half time. However, it turns out the forward does have a knee problem, which I would assume played a part at Fratton Park? This will keep him out. Then again I can’t see that Ronan Curtis wouldn’t have returned anyway, he was away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland a week ago.

Kenny Jackett doesn’t really have any fresh concerns, far as we can see? Well, aside from Green and the fact Dion Donohue will again sit out, but he’s not featured this season anyway. Anton Walkes and Jack Whatmough should return next week too, so it seems it’ll be a case of Curtis for Green, which will perhaps be the only change?

It goes without saying a point at London Road – not that I think they call it that these days? – would be a good one, all three points and we’ll takeover at the top and, without getting carried away too soon, really stamp an early season mark of authority on League One – yet, it’s a marathon and not a sprint...

Optimism as opposed to pessimism is something I prefer, however, I also like to deal in realism. As the home side, also league leaders, Peterborough would be fancied to collect the points, but backed by a massive Pompey following if we’re on it and take the chances we create – which we will, well, create anyway – without allowing too many to Posh then three points is most definitely possible.

Give me a point now and I’ll bite your arm off, which I think may well prove to be the outcome this afternoon. But I’m going to do my usual and follow my heart and not my head when I comes to the predictions league I make and I’m say it’ll be an away win.

Forget all the facts about form and league position. Sometimes it just occurs that a location and a team name produces a result.
In that fact I fancy a win as I don't remember pompey regularly having major set backs up there.
What about 1-2

Well.. back in Blighty now for a bit, but couldn't get online, hear a radio or any other form of communication device, so it was with some trepidation I fired up my laptop this evening to find out the Pompey - Posh score..

To say I've a great big smile on my face would be an understatement, and then some.. I actually feel quite dizzy.. :grinning: What a fantastic result. Absolutely brilliant. Top of League 1 and most definitely our best start ever.

Ollie Hawkins got his first for the Blues. I'm really pleased about that, and hope now he tucks away a few more. He certainly deserves it, as his performance on the pitch has very much contributed to our form. Jamal Lowe of course, turning into a real Pompey stalwart, a very dangerous one too. Then of course we have that man Curtis.. what can you say about him, except he's 'smokin'.. on fire. Assists for both goals today. What a trio.. Defense solid too..

I'm just so chuffed. Yes, I know its a long season, but I haven't felt like this for a very long time, so I'm going to luxuriate in it.. PUP PPU..:thumbup:

It Doesn’t Mean Much Now

Yes, being top of League One now is great, but the reality is it doesn’t count for much at this stage. However, we’ll enjoy it after beating Peterborough, right?

Damn right Rug.. I'm taking it to the bank.. I've taken a screenshot of the League 1 table and am savoring it.. ha ha..

Yeah, in the greater scheme of things it doesn't mean much, but you've got to luxuriate in the highs, after all the lows we've been through..
