North American 2026 World Cup

How come USA get it again ahead of the UK? ( and a third time for Mexico ffs).

We didn't put in a bid but the US did?

The general feeling with the continental merry-go-round is that it'll be Europe's turn in 2030 so expect us to put a bid in then.

The Sun are reporting that England are favourites to host the 2030 World Cup!

None of those bidding deserve or should have been awarded a World Cup.

Morocco is not a footballing country and doesn't have the infrastructure or stadia. A triple bid should be completely excluded regardless - countries should be able to host a WC off of their own back. Also, does this mean three teams will auto-qualify? That's ridiculous - especially as two of them (Canada and the US) are by no means certs to qualify. Of those three countries, Mexico is the only country of any footballing pedigree, but should be excluded as it has already hosted two World Cups (It'll be three World Cups within 56 years, which is madness). The US are the only ones with the stadia and infrastructure for it, but just don't get or understanding football - one World Cup there not that long ago is quite enough. And for Canada, read Morocco.

There was a chance to properly change Fifa when Blatter fell and the way to do that was for the top nations to lead Fifa or break away and put in some sort of UN security council permanent members arrangement where decisions are weighted towards true football countries. Unfortunately, that wasn't taken, corrupt, immoral and incorrectly awarded World Cups remained with Russia and Qatar, and we continue to see ridiculous decisions at the top, like the expanding of the World Cup to 48 teams (as ever to buy the votes of developing nations) and this latest World Cup award.

Nothing changes with Fifa - corruption rules and money talks.

My point was that we knew it wasn't worth even bidding for it when, I believe, we should have been considered as very strong candidates. Mexico have held it twice since we did in 66. Now they get it (partially) again. A bad joke.

We wouldn't have been considered and that isn't just because the intitial entires had to be submitted when Blatter was still in charge.

It is well recognised that there was a rotation of Europe - South America - Europe - South America up until 2002 when countries in other countries had the inclination and resources to make a realistic bid. First in East Asia and with the pattern of
Europe (Germany), Africa (S. Africa) and then the Americas (Brazil)

followed by

Europe (Russia), Asia (Qatar) and then the Americas (US, Canada, Mexico)

In 2030 then Europe is favourite continent, then Africa or maybe Austraila / New Zealand or somewhere like Thailand. Then it'll be probably someone in South Amercia again.

So basically Europe - Other - Americas

Had England actually put in a bid then we'd probably annoy a lot of voters by being seen to be trying to grab the chance when it isn't our continent's turn.

So that's clear then.

So that's clear then.

So basically until 1998 FIFA rotated between Europe and South America and the major footballing countries who could afford to host, but since 2002 FIFA has been keen to rotate between the different continents more.
