Montsma Injury Update

Surgery and aftercare has moved on considerably since some of the ex players with similar injuries we know about, I go back to Trevor Meath, in some ways a similar player, so all is not lost hopefully the supporters and Club will be fully behind him.
UTI.

I think the biggest problem for Lewis will be mentally. This lay off coming so soon after being out for 13 months will be hard to cope with. On the physical side these knee Injuries were career ending not so many years ago but modern day surgery has moved on massively and hopefully he can make a full recovery.

The link on the OS doesn't work but BBC Lincs reporting he's had an operation on a ruptured ACL.

Good luck to the bloke, always fan friendly and a credit to LCFC standing by him. UTI.

Poor bloke, two Cruciate injuries within 15 months must be pretty soul-destroying. He came back so strong from the previous one and was immediately back up to speed, but he was out for a over a year (Jan 8th 2022-Jan 27th 2023) so I wouldn't expect to see him again much before the very end of next season. I think his contract runs to the summer 2024. I really hope he can come back again and sign a new deal with us.

Poor old Lewis. I really feel for the lad it must be devastating. Medical provision is so much better these days and hopefully he can make a full recovery.

However having ruptured and ACL twice in one knee it does not sound very good. Fingers crossed for the lad.

It is actually his third ACL injury, which I haven't encountered before. It suggests a weakness and does not bode well long-term.

Stacey West have a more extended update, operation carried out in Holland, staying there until more mobile.
An operation in Holland,? That's encouraging for a recovery.Far better than the third world health service we know have

The term "Third World" arose during the Cold War and it was used to define countries that remained non-aligned with either NATO or the Warsaw Pact.

"Third World" is an outdated and derogatory phrase that has been used historically to describe a class of economically developing nations.

Edit: as if a footballer is going to have a surgery on the NHS anyway. What a brazen attempt to bring politics/rose-tinted glasses into a discussion about the unfortunate situation that Lewis faces.

Correct me if I am wrong but i interpret the comment as the NHS needs more money which irrespective of the rosette we wear is true so in some respects it isn’t so much a political comment more a statement of fact.

He'll probably have to seriously consider retirement at the end of his current deal. I'm assuming he's insured, so that'll soften the blow for him a bit but coming back from three ACL's is pretty unheard of. Did Jodi Jones of Coventry do it three times?

We have to forget about Lewis next season from a playing perspective. Obviously all the fans and the club need to back him next season. 100% in his long road to recovery.
However this does leave us with a dilemma. With Poole almost certainly leaving, Walsh unlikely to be offered a new contract and Jackson and Roughan still not signed a new contracts, from a healthy position centre back wise we are going to need to bring in at least two at a very minimum. Our defensive record has helped us to achieve our healthy league position but it looks like MK with have to start afresh with an almost totally new defence bext season.

I wasn't being political. There are many examples of athletes having corrective surgery out of the country. Our health service cannot provide basic care and our specialist services usually lack behind the USA and the continent.Just a fact so why don't you all put your toys back in your prams and find something else to make you angry . Furthermore any suggestions that I am disrespecting Lewis are quite frankly ridiculous .
