Montsma Injury Update

I was trying not to read between the lines on the club statement but it really doesn't sound great. Devastating for Montsma, the club, team and fans. Hope some sort of recovery does see him back again next season but we certainly have seen the last of him this season on the pitch.

Doesn’t to me, not sure how you’re reading that into it.
I had this horrible feeling when he went off it could be career ending

“we will support”

He is our player so clearly we have legal/contractual obligation but this sounds more like a moral one. I should imagine to have several major injuries in quick succession takes a mental toll

“significant damage to the knee” says physical but of course he needs support

It’s bad enough having a serious long term injury, but after then recovering and potentially having another one must be devastating for Lewis, his family and the club. As fans we can only offer our support and hope to see him back again at SB stronger than ever next season.

He is still only a young man and has committed so much to his pathway playing abroad as well. It is particularly galling for him when you consider how well he had been doing adapting to England and the EFL.

The latest recovery and building up the confidence when playing again afterwards, will require considerable mental and physical toughness. Absolute best wishes and empathy on that journey. The first thing is for the specialists to at least show him there is a route whereby he can play again at a professional level. Everything crossed for him.

"Similar long term injury" is the bit that concerns me I think, in that it might not just be that he misses the end of the season but a significant chunk of the next one.

Really disappointing as he's such a good player and felt like he would be moving upwards division wise as he has the talent. Glad the club seems to be showing all the support it can.

If it is another tear or rupture of the ACL we won't be seeing him till the season after next I would say.

Absolutely gutted for him if that's the case but shows how precarious the profession is.

He'll obviously want to return but as people have said there is the healing side and the psychological side to having these long term injuries and no guarantee that it couldn't happen again.

Good luck to Lewis in his recovery, such a decent committed guy, hope everything works out for him.

Sounds like it could be a career ending injury. Really hope not but if he does get through it, I wouldn’t expect him to be back till at least this time next year, or even the start of the 24/25 season. Got to feel for the lad especially as he recently committed himself to the area buying his house. 🤞 he has the strength to return.

Lewis must be devastated, every footballers nightmare. Very best wishes to him in terms of his physical recovery and how he must be feeling right now. A quality player, I look forward to seeing him back on the field in due course.

Probably being a bit overly sentimental here but how's this for a scenario. He battles back, does well but nobody else is prepared to take him on because of his injury record so he settles into the area keeps renewing his Imps contract, ends up getting a testimonial and retires as our greatest overseas player.

Trying to light a candle, apologies if I got carried away.

Yep bad news for him, it looks a bit like what happened to Jones at Coventry, but he's back playing now so there is loads of hope.

I'm recalling Tony Lormor and Sean Dunphy 30 odd years ago, who both endured a couple of years out but came back successfully. Hopefully we'll see the same with Lewis.
