We don't have any details. In fact odder that that for me it appears that this was brought to the police in January 2020 and it is only now a arrest has been made.It appears to be a politician may have been in Parliament since 2002 judging on the statement.Perhaps their have been multiple claims that has lead to the arrest. It could be only one is claimed Rape. That could account for the delay and the length of time it appears to have been alleged to have been happening.

3 "appears", 2 "could's" and 1 "perhaps", in 1 paragraph

This speculation is what Tory MP's are complaining about - "a Tory MP in his 50's has been arrested accused of rape" implicates every male Tory MP in his 50's, and there can't be many.

If you are in that group you pretty much have to attend Parliament this week, and be seen doing so.

Someone has been arrested for some reason the police didn't do it earlier. We can only begin to piece together so far .Of course we can't be sure who but it is not likely to be female judging on statistics on rape .Cases go back almost 20 years and I do believe the police statement words point to this happening at work almost certainly in the house of commons or offices connected with the house.
So we know he can't be less than 45 at the very minimum. It is possible he might be older than I supposed.

What do you mean? Have Tory MPs been complaining about the speculation?

A week or two ago it was speculation about a Tory MP watching porn on his phone in parliament. This week the alleged offences are a lot more serious.

I can well believe that some Tories would complain about the speculation - as if this is the real issue here - that's what they're like.

They play by different rules our rulers do and hide behind appeals to principle and defence of victims. Whoever he is this man has volunteered not to visit Westminster but past experience and the ThreeSixes viewpoint suggests this promise may not be strictly observed. His party is concerned that any action to suspend his membership might identify any alleged victims. I am an astrophysicist and decorated Battle of Britain pilot.

As has been shown before, it's not as easy to maintain the anonymity of suspects these days. His name has been revealed, it's on the internet.

I have just seen thier name on twitter.

I ddin't recognise the name or face.

Let justice be done.

Not sure that all Tories are equally creepy. There is definitely a element that is still living in Queen Victoria's reign .That reflects in so many ways .Possibly why most of the females in high positions have to be the Margaret Thatcher type or they get trodden on .

If the poor old Met didn't have to spend so much time with Downing St and Westminster law breakers they could probably eliminate the scourge of knife crime in London completely.

Isn't that Sadiq Khan's job as London Mayor rather than whoever is the government?

The rate of knife crimes has been creeping up ever since he got elected and scrapped the stop and search policy. I assume the fall in 20/21 was influenced by lockdown

The government make the rules and along with the media drive the agenda and direction
Knife crime, drugs and organised crime are a problem across the uk not isolated to london.

Successive governments have completely failed on this.

If a Member of Parliament has been up to no good over many years yes members of his party should have stopped that guy years ago. They possibly didn't know the full sorry details but at very least it is likely he abused his power over women .That would have been within the knowledge of at least one or two other Tory MPs .It is not about blaming the Tories it is about politicians being good citizens. Not blatantly lying. Not abusing their privileged position. If Politicians of all parties were immediately removed from office similar to a normal work place once improper conduct has been proven. Instead in many cases simply put on the back benches any time they can get away with it.
If he is found guilty we need to know who knew what within parliament. If there was evidence that comes out later that there was some sort of hush up job .Everyone responsible should be removed from office at very least.

Last time I checked the Metropolitan Police were a London based force having to deal with ALL crime in in the city. The mayor, indeed, having direct mandate since 2011.

What has his religion got to do anything?

As you comment yourself, he has had a direct mandate over this area. And since he has exercised that mandate then he takes credit for any successes or failures in that area.

Are we really going down that path that any commentary of someone who happens to be muslim is immediately seen as islamophobia?

The Met did not "have to" spend so much time on alleged "parties".

They could have followed the example of Durham Police and consider that a few drinks and a curry after a day's "work" (electioneering) were not worth investigating.

After all, which Police forces pursue, with such determination, other alleged Fixed Penalty Notices such as Parking or Yellow Box Junction offences ?

Instead the Met bowed to the London-based media mob and decided to pursue trivia instead of bloody knife crime and home burglaries.

And of the 100 or so FPNs around Downing Street and Whitehall.....,
....how many politicians (rather than civil servants) ? A handful ?
