January 2024 Transfer Window Thread

I'm resigned to Dougall never playing for us again.
Lavery - sell whilst we can still get something for him.
Clarke-Harris would be worth every oenny of £300k.

We were talking about Elliot Watt at Salford last Sat. Out of contract, will know NC from Liverpool youth team, midfielder.
Also mentioned Adam Mayor at Moreycambey. 19, striker

Tbf that post I made about Beesley was at the start of December. He’s certainly done enough since then to change my mind.

I’m not sure Clarke-Harris would be the answer either. Ironically I’d look at a club like Peterborough and question would they spend money to sign him and the answers no.

Blackpool and Reading have registered their interest in signing Charlton Athletic defender Terell Thomas ahead of the January window.

Both League One clubs are looking to bolster their defensive options ahead of the second half of the season and are weighing up moves for the St Lucia international.
Thomas, 28, is entering the final six months of his contract at Charlton.

The experienced defender is adept at playing both left-back and centre-back and has been a key part of Charlton’s squad this season.

He has made 20 appearances across all competitions for the Londoners, including 17 in League One.

Thomas started the 2023/24 season by making 15 consecutive league starts but he has since fallen down the pecking order and appeared in just two of their last eight fixtures.

Thomas started his career at The Valley after graduating from Charlton’s youth academy in 2014, but he failed to make a senior appearance for the club before leaving for Wigan Athletic in 2017.

Following a successful stint at Sutton United, Thomas then moved to AFC Wimbledon in 2018 where he spent three years and made 90 first-team appearances.

The versatile defender then had brief spells at Crewe Alexandra and Reading before moving back to Charlton in September 2022.

A move back to Reading is on the cards despite Thomas making just two senior appearances for the Royals during his previous stint at the Madejski Stadium

I would never class Lavery and Rhodes in the same breath

"Championship standard players we had, ie Yates, Bowler, Patino, Poveda and Madine." PARDON?

Bowler??
Madine??
Patino where numbnuts was playing him?

Just checked, yes Bowler is a Championship player still. On his day (which was playing for us in the Championship) before we sold him for a sizeable chunk of cash to Premier League Forest, he was definitely one of the best in his position in the Championship, hence interest from Fulham, Bormuff and Forest, all of whom went up to the Premier League.

Madine has played a lot of games at Championship level for Coventry, Sheff Wed, Bolton, Cardiff, Sheff Utd and 2 seasons for us too. (6 different Championship clubs!) He is still only 33 (believe it or not!) so yes I would say on his day he was more than good enough at Championship level. And I'm thinking now after a few bad injuries his day has now gone. 🤣

Sounds hopeful😔

the recruitment team and Neil are continuing at pace with their plans to ensure we are as competitive as possible during the upcoming January Transfer Window. As we all know, the winter window always brings its challenges, but if the right individuals become available and fit the profile of what we’re looking for in a Blackpool player, we’re hopeful we will be able to bring in one or two who will strengthen Neil’s squad for the second half of the season.

The Club can confirm Jensen Weir has been recalled by Brighton & Hove Albion.

The midfielder, 21, joined the Seasiders on loan in the summer, and went on to make 16 appearances in all competitions.

The Club would like to thank Jensen for all of his efforts in tangerine and wishes him the best of luck for the future.

Rhodes kids as mascots today is a worry.
That shot at the death today where he could have hit it either side or rounded the keeper had all the hallmarks of his final goodbye contribution. Would have been quality if that dipped in.

Weir I thought showed he has quality. For whatever reason it didn't work out for him. He was a top contributor for Morecambe in L1 last season. Perhaps it's the Critchley formation or maybe him and Dougall don't get on with Norburn? Because that's a really strange one.

My mate's wife follows Kenny's wife/girlfriend? on Twitter (X) and whilst the passage of play was a bit boring she was reading a post she put up saying Kenny isn't coming back and deleted it quite soon after. 🤔

Is this good news ahead of bad??

Blackpool Football Club can announce that Rob Apter has returned to the Club following the conclusion of his loan at Tranmere Rovers.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a successful spell at Prenton Park during the first half of the season, scoring five goals across 21 appearances in all competitions.

Welcome back to Blackpool, Rob

Who'd have thought at the start of the January transfer window

"“Owen Moxon took a bit of a dead leg, but I think he’ll be ok as well – fingers crossed he’ll be fine.”

Striker makes permanent transfer to Town from Finnish champions HJK Helsinki

- Bojan Radulović signs for Huddersfield Town
- 24-year-old centre forward joins from Finnish champions HJK
- Comments from Mark Cartwright and Darren Moore

We are delighted to announce the signing of Serbian centre forward Bojan Radulović on a permanent transfer from Finnish champions HJK!

Bojan has joined the Terriers for an undisclosed fee and has put pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal that runs until the summer of 2027. His move is still pending international clearance from the football authorities.

Having only recently turned 24-years-old on 29 December 2023, Spanish-born Bojan began his youth career with Catalonia based Lleida Esportiu before making the move to England with Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018. On the back of loans with Espanyol B and Alavés B, he made a permanent move to Swedish giants AIK in 2020, spending two years with the side before making a loan move to Finnish titans HJK permanent in 2022.

Standing at 6’3, Radulović is a presence in the final third with an eye for goal and appreciation of space, allowing him to bring the ball down and link up play with his midfield and fellow forwards.

Arriving with two Finnish league titles – he was the division’s top scorer with 18 goals in 2023 – a domestic cup win and experience of European football under his belt, Bojan netted 36 times in 78 appearances for HJK, including an almost one-in-two return of six in 13 games so far this campaign in European competitions.

Just heard on RL that there is only a ONE WEEK period in January that a player can be recalled. NC says that time will end soon re Rhodes!

Think this points to Rhodes being surplus to requirements at Udders.

If so let’s hope he will be staying at Bloomers!

Tranmere Boss Nigel Adkins speaking well of Apter on Sly ahead of game at Barrow today.

He certainly had a good loan spell there so let’s hope he can get some game time in the coming weeks (unless he’s going out on loan again?)
