Harris back at Millwall

So, Harris dumping Cambridge to return to Millwall for higher status and definitely more money isn’t a surprise.
I’m pretty sure that if he was still at Gills and any bigger local club came calling, he wouldn’t resist it.
Two way street. Fans and players may desire more loyalty from the manager but the manager rarely gets that from the Owner of Chairman, particularly the trigger happy and ruthless ones. NH being sacrificed rather than KJ, AH or PS typifies that.

As Cambridge seem to have given permission for NH to speak to Millwall, I presume that are getting compensation. That isn't bad either when you only paid the employee's salary for 77 days.

Do we get a percentage of his "transfer" fee to Millwall? Only if PS dealt with his leaving us!

Maybe, but we played Crawley on 19th August and Harris was sacked in the first week in October.

If he objected to the club bringing late disciplinary action against Livermore, who at the very least was clearly provoked by Darcy (we had won, after all), I would have expected a resignation rather than a sacking.

if I was as lower league football manager I wouldn’t resign; instead wait to get sacked and paid up.

Wasn't it NH's missus who used the phrase that some snakes have legs🤔
Perhaps she`s an avid fan of Snakes in the City. Some Pythons have tiny hind leg bones - who`d have thunk it.

And, who knew there were so many deadly snake varieties in Durban ! Thank goodness for Simon & Siouxsie.

That is definitely true but if BG wanted Livermore sacked, he or even Scally could have just sacked him, like they did Shorey. Why would he ask NH to do it?

Then NH could either choose to resign or carry on. I still cant see a scenario where he would need to be sacked if Livermore was seen as a problem.

So when he leaves (more likely sacked) millwall we gonna keep banging on about him ?
Maybe. Many keep banging on about Alfie May, for example, and he has never been employed by the club, and went on the pastures new way before NH.

This is an open forum as far as I understand, with plenty of space to discuss all and sundry.

Not interested, don't read it.

Can’t swear it’s gospel but I was told by a friend of Niel’s, that still socialises with him, that it was nothing to do with Livermore.
It was purely KJ’s decision and apparently a footballing one.
NH was shocked and didn’t see it coming.

That was intimated elsewhere and I still think is more likely given the timeframes and the fact that we had just dropped to (one place) below the play off places for the first time when it happened.

Considering how many teams have subsequently been having good spells and then bad spells and going up and down the league, that level of dip at some time was inevitable.

The style of play was maybe an issue but NH's last couple of games did indicate that he was trying to change it, probably to the detriment of the defence, but KJ's reputation in his last couple of management jobs had been similarly dour, suggesting a lack of self awareness if true..

Maybe it was because KJ knew the style BG wanted long term and thought that NH, and indeed himself in the past, could not deliver it.

It all seems to have worked out for the best and even Livermore is probably happy now, so water under the bridge

Harris himself seemed to blame Paul Scally for the decision in a podcast he did shortly after he was sacked .

The only one-way street in terms of loyalty is trodden by us fans - managers change, owners change, players change - but, where it counts, the Club is always ours !

I think it is more likely to be his use of the budget. We were totally out played by.a Crewe side including many home grown players.BG Possibly saw that and felt his money was better.spent developing a team.Harris clearly wanted to go with loads of experience.BG and his advisors wanted to go a different route four signings in January all under average age.
