The Beacon Court was also a regular haunt for the local CID (imagine if you'd known that at the time Bud ) and my old man would regularly see many of the team in there in the evening after a match (and sometimes before).He was apparently a regular (along with a few other players) in the Beacon Court during the early 1970s.
I heard that the Beacon had been demolished recently. I've not yet seen it gone.
On the subject of David Peach, I was lucky to have had a coaching session with him in the summer of 1980 (ish). I had been booked into a summer football camp run by Southampton FC and they sent a couple of players along each day in the week it it was running.
He, along with a very young Steve Williams were my favourites and meeting the giant that was Lawrie McMenemy, was the icing on the cake.
