FFP charges?

Why?

It's actually very strong squad, plenty of PL quality. Not even close to being one of the three worst on paper
I agree and I also think it demonstrates to the whole outside world that we are getting our house in order, we have offloaded a lot of players and to fulfill our obligation to name a 25 man squad we have had to name 5 GK’s and 2 unknowns to make the numbers up.

Lack of balance.

Inclusion of lower Championship players like Laryea and Konate.

Inclusion of 5 goalkeepers (three of whom are shit and one of whom has never played a competitive match).

3 strikers with injury and/ or fitness problems.

Only one natural left back.

Four right backs.

Just no balance whatsoever and proof that the recruitment team are not fit for purpose.
Nice positive post by your standards mate

It certainly looks better than having to leave senior players out of the 25 man squad because there are just too many to name them all.
Yep, and i think / hope they are learning their lesson
Come the summer loans and out of contracts reduce the size even further. I’d offer wood and Boly another year or 2 though.

We then have to move a keeper or 2, Dennis, and deal with sales or loans for Laryea, Ui-Jo, Bowler and figure out if Richards is going to make it or not.

So this summer shouldn’t be a massive task. Hopefully get a contract for Aina sorted.

We do have to look at buying a few though. A left back, maybe a CB, a winger, back up CF

On a long term perspective the balance sheet looks very healthy considering baseline. For the coming financial year ending June we are well in ffpS&P, have another £25m coming in providing Mangala transfer becomes permanent. Have £80M coming in to kitty from PL and we hav3 a shed full coming out of contract. We can assume one goalie will go on loan and one will be released or sold/loaned or both. We will have space in squad for new additions and money in bank or stacked via amortisation or both. With such a small squad we can almost guarantee players games. Just need to ensure we stay in PL and it looks as if a plan is emerging.

Many complain about recruitment but most of the questionable recruiting have been players on free or comparatively low fees. The big money transfers have paid off or got most of money back apart from Dennis. Mangala made a good profit, Awoniyi looks positive as does Niakhate, Murillo and Omobamidele. Dominguez is showing his worth as are MGW and Elanga. If any were to be sold it is likely they would Show a handsome profit.

Some are believing rhetoric fed from media.

Totally agree. If the rules were staying the same, I’d hope that this FY we comply as is, and the Mangala money drops into the next FY

As you say, we’d then be in the window of £105m of permissible losses so we could really add sensibly a good 4/5 quality players to move us forward.
Which will be needed as the 3 coming up are way stronger than this years 3

As every week goes by I can see both Forest and Everton getting away with less than a small points penalty, probably suspended sentence or special provision or fine. The IC is made up of legal bods with financial advisers available for expert opinion. It is the legal case and clarity of ruling that will dictate compliance and penalty.

The way the PL has handled the timing, the announcement that the present rules are not fit for purpose, the announcement over new rules and comments like small clubs all makes it difficult for PL to defend their stance. The latest round of discussions all lead to the PL not knowing what’s happening and rulings being obscure rather than clubs deliberate non compliance.

The big clubs would wish restrictions were minimised so they can go back to spending and the so called smaller clubs do not wish to find the threat of points deductions and relegation hanging over them. Apart from clubs who would directly benefit from a points penalty most would wish for a line drawn under this and some clear rules and understanding from now forth.

Even the PL would wish for this to come to a conclusion, as a deduction will mean an appeal and this dragging on till after season conclusion. The announcement from likes of Leeds wishing to take one or both clubs to court for £100m just muddies water further. Best it is sorted by April.

Leeds intending to bring a case against us is just bonkers. How can they put together a coherent argument to say they would have survived last season if we'd sold Brennan Johnson to Brentford in July, rather than Spurs in August.

Laryea and Toffolo are left backs, plus Aina has been playing there for Nigeria and well enough to get to the AFCON final.
PLUS what is said below about how the squad lists have to be put together.

Do you really dislike so much about Forest? Supporting them is supposed to be a leisure pursuit, and pleasurable .

Yep. Many civil court cases fail on what is called causation, or how the breach did (or often did not ) cause the loss complained about.

Laryea is a right footer and can play on the left.

Aina does not really look a natural there.

I just find it disgusting that we're blowing being back up in the PL after a 23 year absence for no good reason.

I think you are being very harsh mate. I do agree the recruitment could and should have been better but you must remember we won promotion when we were no where near ready. The teams coming up this year are going to be in a much better position. Before you mention Luton I will just say their manager has done an incredible job and if he keeps them up he should be manager of the year!

As Cooper should have been in the conversation at the very least last year, in my opinion.

Since there are fewer left- footers, there are statistically going to be fewer left- backs who are naturally left- footed. As we have established, Aina has played left- back for Forest and got to a AFCON final playing left- sided for Nigeria.

Laryea is right- footed, but played on the left, including at the World Cup finals. It is not "disgusting" not to have two natural left-footed left- backs in a 25- man squad- on the contrary, it is better to have versatile players available as well as specialists, which in the case of Aina, Williams and Laryea, Forest have available to complement Toffolo. There are also going to be times when FOrest play 3 at the back, and someone is playing left- side further up the field, e.g. Dominguez. But there is no point in arguing with someone who is determined to see the clouds rather than the silver lining.

Just looked at the squad and there are 5 squad players in the under 21s so having 5 keepers (which is too many) in the main 25 isn’t as bad as at first signt

I've said the same , Edwards won't win it though , it'll be the usual suspects . Would love to see Pep at a "small" club and see how he get's on.

Have I missed something.
Isn’t Tavares a left footed LB LWB?
NES is starting to get a tune out of him as well.
I would not be surprised if we sign him and he establishes himself as our 1st choice next season
