Exploding Chinese Balloon Thread

I think the Chinese will be wondering if we've completely lost our minds. Biden on the box the other night saying the other stuff wasn't Chinese and posed no threat but, mark his words, if other non-Chinese stuff posing no threat came our way, we'd shoot that down as well. The Republican opposition demands no less.

Apparently it took our Duluth boys two $300,000 missiles to get the octagonal box with dangling strings -but we it got by golly!

148th National Guard Fighter Wing F 16’s based in Duluth brought the last one down with an AIM 9X -go Bulldogs- although twin Vickers with Buckingham ammunition would have been cheaper.

Bullets ultimately fall to earth and if they fall and hit someone then that could cause a fatality, especially when you consider the altitude of the ballons and the amount of momentum they would have being accelerated by gravity.

True.

"An Illinois-based club of amateur balloonists says one of its small balloons is “missing in action” after last reporting its location over Alaska on Saturday, the same day the US military shot down an unidentified object in the same region.
While the Northern Illinois Bottlecap Balloon Brigade (NIBBB) has not blamed the US government for taking out one of its 32-inch-wide “Pico Balloons,” the group of hobbyists notes in a post on its blog that its last transmission near a small island off the west coast of Alaska occurred after the balloon had been airborne for more than four months and circled the globe seven times.
“Pico Balloon K9YO last reported on February 11th at 00:48 zulu near Hagemeister Island after 123 days and 18 hours of flight,” the NIBBB blog post, dated February 14, states......" ( "co-incidentally the NIBB blog - https://nibbb.org/ - is down ..")

so does the debris from the destroyed balloon lol.

Which'll fall more or less vertically down and you can time the missile to hit over open fields where people aren't around.

Where a high speed bullet lands could be 10 miles away allowing for starting altitude and that is a lot harder to predict.
