Ex Player watch

Jack Hendry is making a name for himself over at Dundee. Played 90 mins of their 2-1 over Rangers on Friday night and is tipped for a big future by their fans along with Brendan Rodgers who personally named checked him after their game at Celtic. Sounds like just another one of our youngsters shabbily treated before going on to prove themselves somewhere else. I hope we’ve got a sell on clause!

Loved this on bbc
"Connolly met an early Martyn Waghorn corner to put Town ahead, with the ball crossing the line after Scott Carson parried his header onto the bar."

Good luck to you big man ..........

That last sentence “He was key as we prepared for the huge games against Wigan recently and I’m sure he will continue to be so.” is quite telling as to how well Fylde were able to counter our style over the 2 games.

Could be some more of our lads heading to Wesham in coming months.

Id heard Barrow was bumming them up on Wish FM the other night, now we know why.
I wonder if he gets his mate Caldwell on.

To be fair, Barrow hasn't been here since before Cook was appointed & whilst some of the players are the same, Cook's style is different to Joyce's, different to Barrow's, different to Caldwell's & so on.
To be honest, Latics could & should have battered Fylde out of sight in that first game & would have been but for some woeful finishing. They got complacent, got unsettled for a short spell around their substitution, they scored from a penalty & Latics struggled to shake off that lethargy.
In the replay any team that changes its usual side by almost 75% will struggle to find much rhythm.
I doubt Barrow's inside info would have played much part in countering Latics coz he won't have that much inside info about the current set up.

That's not to say his general coaching & tactical tips wouldn't have helped though

Regardless of team style, I'd have thought GB would know most of (or plenty of at least) the players well enough to suggest ways how to best challenge them.

Plus he has been watching a few Wigan matches recently too (as did Gary Caldwell).

Not necessarily. You take Bruce & Martinez when they were our managers - you'd have prepared completely differently to playing Latics under those 2 even though there were many of the same players.

I take your point about individual players but there's no way that Barrow would have known that such a strong line up was going to be put out in the first game & likewise that he was going to make 8 changes for the replay and as a manager you would prepare differently to coming up against Morsy & Evans say than you would to Perkins & Power
