I might go back through my posts in the Brexit thread, but I’m pretty sure I posted (because I definitely thought and had debates with people), that Brexit would make illegal immigration worse because why would France keep thousands of immigrants on their shores when they can get rid of them? Surprised the French aren’t giving them boats and escorting them out of their territorial waters.

You’re mad if you think you can have a toxic divorce but the other partner has to behave impeccably. We’d do exactly the same.

Agree however it is ludicrous that we keep these people and make no attempt at deporting them.
Why do we pay France anything whatsoever.
They do nothing to earn it.
The divorce was not from France but from the EU, however once again this attitude towards the English plays well with a domestic audience in an election buildup
The EU are currently accusing Russia and Belarus of facilitating illegal entry into Europe, and are now involved in sabre rattling on Poland's border. How are the actions of the French any different.

They don't work BB.They are not allowed to, and the massive majority are refused asylum because the are illegal immigrants and are here for economic reasons.

I couldn’t think of many things worse than rushing approvals for an immigrant who has barely drove before to be given a licence to drive a 44 tonne HGV through our towns and cities.

A huge difference between skilled immigration (and some of the European drivers are bad enough) and illegal immigration for me on this one.

This is the point.
Yes we do need skilled immigrants, but they should be the ones we select as a country, those that the country requries to fill labour shortages.
We don't need just anyone that wants to come for their own reasons.
I get that people from poor countries want to come here but we should take only what we need.
 
I've sussed it all out we send a flotilla of Fishing boats to France to collect all the illegals sorry would-be migrants, tell the French we'll have as many as they can supply, that way they'll impound all our fishing boats and keep all the Migrants for themselves.

Or even simpler tell them that all our fishing boats are now bright orange dinghies with 30 people rammed on them all with fishing rods, they sure as hell wouldn't make it to Dover then

If you can pass the test, you can pass the test. I'm not saying hand them a licence and let them figure it out as they go.

I bet you could learn to drive a HGV in a couple of weeks if you already have experience of driving.

Driving one is easy backing the thing into an unloading bay a few inches wider than the trailer is daunting. That's the skill and you don't want someone practising with your 100k truck out on the roads of Britain.
I find people backing a normal car into a standard parking space hilarious

You probably could drive it, but not too the standard required to be let loose on a public highway.
We had some horrific accidents on our roads involving poorly trained Eastern European drivers.
Moving it around is one thing, driving it safely is another all together.

Like I said, as long as they can pass the test, they are as safe as any newly licenced British driver.

There are very few drivers of cars here that would get through an advanced test, Although everyone thinks they are the dogs bollocks at driving and those who drive at 40mph everywhere think they are the safest best drivers around, when in fact they are shit drivers who should really be made to do an advanced course.
