EU strategy to destroy the Chequers ‘agreement’...

Churchill , The River War ,1899

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome"

His comment on women is true in custom but not in the religeon but why let facts get in the way. Proves he was too lazy to learn i.e. a no nothing *** living off his ancestor’s memory (lord marlborough) :) if blair is called a war criminal then what the f was he as he started the bombing of civilians, lucky we did not lose then thanks to the usa and our empire soldiers).
Its all about who wins writes history lol.

Tired phoney outrage. Pathetic. Churchill was obviously a mixture of hero and villain. War hero as a leader but multiple mistakes in office when not leader and dreadful policies in peacetime (except re pensions I believe).

If Churchill was so wonderful leading us to victory in WW2, why was he booted out by a landslide defeat in the first election after WW2? He treated the British people like shit - "shoot them like the dogs they are" being 1 of his many famous quotes.

Just when Theresa May wanted to show the European Union that she could hold her party together to win, she lost. When is this woman going accede to a cross-party solution to the problem? The EU won't budge and, while yesterday's vote may not be binding, it sends a signal to Brussels that she does not have the full support of the House or even her own party of which 72 either abstained or voted against the motion. All music to the ears to those lining up to do a trade deal with the UK. Fox is already finding it hard enough as he faces demands from various suiters, eg asking the UK to cut back on its human rights legislation post-Brexit.

You forgot to mention that Corbyn's Labour amendment also got defeated, as did the Liberal amendment.
This is just 600 twats playing politics with our future.

I have no problem with politicians playing politics, that is after all their purpose and profession. Brexit is politics in the most basic sense. What I do have a problem with is their abject failure to take responsibility and do politics effectively.

If we voted for and paid MPs to create division, squabble and exclude all workable alternatives we would be mad. We are. We could just as well arrange a massive game of British Bulldog involving all of us somewhere in the centre of the country. No surrender, no medical, or emergency services, fight to the death and winner takes all.... or nothing.

There was no Liberal amendment; it was the SNP's. It was obvious that Corbyn's amendment would fail but it was May's own amendment that fell and fell quite badly. The Members of the House are doing what they are supposed to do; the PM is not. Bring back sovereignty to Parliament some Leavers said; so, we did and May is trying to go it alone. Get a deal done but don't ffs leave with no deal. Forget the voters, it's now the turn of business, our employers, and they don't want a no-deal and certainly not at the 11th hour. May is playing politics with our future - she's stuck two fingers up to the country in order to keep the Tories united and two fingers up to Brussels daring them to blink first. Her own party scuppered her motion and Brussels won't budge.
