D*rby to be relegated?

As an aside and going back to the original post, Derby are now 6 points from safety.

Ignoring the possibility of further deductions the question was always going to be whether Derby could get 12 points more than 3 other teams.

After a good start, Derby’s threadbare squad is starting to show the strain and it is starting to look unlikely that they are capable, particularly with the embargo and the prospect of player sales.

I honestly can’t see Derby winning their appeal either so the noose is tightening.

Most Football clubs are effectively insolvent and totally depend on the owners largesse; of course, trading in an insolvent state is illegal unless there is a commitment from the owner to fund the club through the next financial year.

That commitment is usually posted in the annual accounts.

It is also a stipulation of the EFL that Clubs must have funding guaranteed.

That commitment ends at the point of Administration and is then restated by the new owners; making the Admin team make a commitment is unusual.

I am not sure why such a heavy handed approach is being taken; if 13m is the magic number to get them through to the seasons end, it is not quite as daunting as it looks.

They should get around half of that figure in gate money despite the first 10k supporters getting in FOC. There will be sponsorship and advertising and TV income which should bring in more money and probably take them up to the 10m mark, what then?

The EFL are effectively saying if the sale is not concluded by the end of the year you WILL be selling players in January.

That is most probably what happens when you waste 300k of creditors money on frivolous and vexatious appeals.
Thanks for that, it does sound draconian and the EFL could end up in hot water themselves if the club can prove they are being discriminated against.

Derby and Mel are reaping what they have sown and it is telling that there are no other clubs stepping forward in support.

Don’t clubs have to show they have the funds to last the season…?

And what’s the story about the charge on the ground, do you know?
The charge has been removed from company's house as its been paid.
It was paid off some while ago and was a tidy up exercise. Old news story.

So there are no charges secured against the ground or training ground? That’s curious. What are MSDs loans secured against them if anything?

If they aren’t secured then MSD are just another non-football creditor and will not be getting their money back anytime soon if ever.

Frankly my dear, i dont give a damn. Would like to see them lose tomorrow just to keep this misery show on the boil

So when is this additional 9 point deduction likely to happen?
It has gone quiet on that front but I would be surprised if it happened before the appeal is heard against the 12 point penalty if it happens at all while they are in administration.

Word down here is Wooney is at the/very near the top of the list to replace Bruce at the pitch invaders.

Quite astonishing. Rooney has done well with his resources but for a club looking to become a superpower, not sure that begins with wooney

They aren’t going to get anyone that great yet though are they. As it stands they’re not in the champions league, not even in Europe at all, in all honesty they’re in a relegation battle.

MSD loans as far as I can ascertain puts them into the preferred creditor's list along with HMRC. All other creditor's will get something like 25p in the £.
This information I have secured from various media outlets. Hope this helps 🙏.

Thanks for that but I am still confused as to how MSD are preferred creditors?

Because MSD gave DCFC a £15 million loan secured against the club NOT the stadium or the training ground therefore the debenture (charge)is a preferred creditor according to the administrators Quantuma.
The PP stadium and training ground are still owned by MM although other interested parties are also involved and have put monies into MM other companies of which PP and the training ground are part of.
It is still a messy business and obtaining good and reliable information is hard to find.

Ok thanks that clears it up. Definitely convoluted and will be no surprise if buyers walk away despite them being a decent sized club with a decent sized fan base.

Can’t say I am hugely sympathetic. They gambled, lost and tried to stack the deck.

Although I agree they cheated and got caught. I do feel Rooney is making a good fist of it. Knight was back last night and Bielek is back in training. Xmas perhaps. They may line up a few sales to get the £13m by Jan. The big dilemma is injuries. Squad is very light and second string are very young. The academy team has been stripped and bottom of league one.

Rooney has made them hard to beat and has an easy possession style. Fancy they will be draw specialist but was surprised to see they scored two last night. They may make it but would be all the more painful to fall on last day of season.

Ooohh Bobby Zamora.

Are you sure about this?

Take away the Ground and the Training Ground and there is nothing left worth 15m; you certainly cannot put a charge on the playing staff.

There was a article doing the rounds just before they went into admin which clearly showed that the Training Ground was listed as a separate Limited Company and there was a charge against it - I cannot remember what the name of the Limited Company is.

There have been numerous articles reporting that there was also a charge against the Ground relating to the MSD debts, but I cannot confirm that because I do not know the name of the Limited Company that the Ground has been hived off to.
