Current Squad: June 2021

TJ - can we assume at least June 2023 (think Alan Long said a multi-year contract or similar).

I think he wanted to emphasise the permanent bit, and got a bit tongue tied tbh

Yep, permanent was what we wanted to hear, though a loan even would have sufficed as we thought he was off elsewhere. It’s a big statement from the club getting him back.

I think we have more strength in depth than last season. Sadly that may not prove to be enough with so many clubs seemingly spending big trying to buy their way out of the division. Last season the FL caved in to pressure from the big spenders over the budget cap. Last season may have been an opportunity we don't get again for a while, well not until the FL grow a pair after a couple of former big clubs go bust trying to reclaim former glories and the FL take matters in hand and stop clubs spending money they do not have. They also need to look at their punishments for clubs going into administration and other financial irregularities. I still think we will make the play offs, ever the optimist.

I think as a squad, it looks weaker than the second half of last season *but* we were spoiled by having Johnson and Rogers on the wings and Palmer in goal.

Not saying it's a weak squad, just weaker than last and I think we all expected that anyway.

Hopefully we’ve had our bad luck with injuries spell over already and the rest can be rotated and be kept fit?

I’m not sure MA will be too happy this morning judging by his post match comments, but it is what it is …. I’ll settle for 20th but think we are capable of mid-table and maybe cause one or two shocks against some of the huge spenders in this division?

Indeed Dean, Michael mentioned half the division have spent crazy money after the game and you can guarantee it will be the usual suspects who are already millions in debt.
But as you say the EFL do very little to the bigger clubs who do it but when Bury and the like do it the come down on them like a ton of bricks.
We have 23 players some clubs will have 10 or 15 more, how can that possibly be sustainable financially?
