Agreed. Melbourne is listed for transfer but is currently a starter.
 
Would definitely like to see a more experienced keeper as back up although will be difficult to convince someone to come and sit on the bench.
Hopefully Josh will be fine, but if he suffers a drop in confidence say (I’m minded he played last season with no crowds) we’re a bit exposed.

Presumably if Sam Long doesn't play X games, we could still get an emergency loan in as we did in the play offs in the event of an injury?
Not doing Sam's development much good watching a 19 year old from the bench though?

If an injury but if Josh had a loss in form then we wouldn’t and I’m minded he’s also a young lad and if he was an outfield player I’m sure we would be managing his appearances but not same luxury for a GK.
 
A Matt Gilks type keeper would be a great addition but they want to play second fiddle to a 19 year old?
 
I do wonder if we could loan Sam out with an instant recall inserted into the contract and run with just 1 keeper for the time being. High risk policy, but getting another keeper in of a decent quality just to sit on a bench is not easy
 
Interesting to see if Sam Long does stay with us until January. How many subs are we allowed to make this season - has it been reset to 3 now, or can we still make more (5)? If so he could be rotated in for the final 15 minutes or so sometimes if deemed appropriate. It'd be good experience.

If I remember rightly (or they've changed it) you can put a recall clause in a short term loan but only for certain times in a long term one. I guess we'd want a season loan for him most likely though.
