County cricket + the SL test

Not seen the score but the Poms must be doing well , people are posting again . Must be a culture of "only post when doing well" here lol .

However , better news is SA are back as the No 1 test team again .

This test in Southampton has been a cracker. Listening to TMS in Portugal. England ahead but not over yet.

Yes great result. Really enjoyed it on the radio on hols. Moeen has turned out to be a little better than all the pundits said. Think he's joint second wicket taker in the series and has also scored a century with the bat.

Moeen looks good ! Good all round cricketer and very level headed chap by all accounts. Did well to pick up those wickets but was aided by some slightly dodgy Indian batting.

Yes perhaps. But if you listened to the sky pundits and Boycott 2 weeks ago it was "well he might hold an end for us and score a few runs until we can find a real spinner". Hmmm

Not sure where we're going to find a real spinner from at the moment though!

Also good news Jimmy was found not guilty.

Yes nobody in form with experience. Having said that Moeen isn't exactly failing having already taken more wickets than Swann did against India last year. Gift horse in the mouth ?

The ODI series v India is looking crap. Today Lancs v Yorks and most of their stares tied up in a pointless ODI series. Big game with championship and relegation at risk. Imagine a major premiership football game with all the stares in an England friendly. Nonsense.

agreed Steve. ODIs should be a warm up for the test series and limited to 3 games. Too much money at stake for that of course!

Not sure whether Cook going or staying as captain would make a difference. Morgan continues to flop. All quite depressing, especially when its all white ball cricket for the next 6 months.

Last chance of redemption today. A Cook ton and we are back to square one. I'd like to see him step down from the one day game completely. He has the potential to be one of our greatest test batsmen and doesn't need the distraction. Broad as ODI captain. Bell should also focus on tests.

I agree about Broad as Captain. Wasn't personal redemption for Cook yesterday but a good win never the less. Hales and Morgan flopped again but Root and Butler class.
