No Ali Smith, I’d have expected him to play if fit , unless the Colchester rumour is true.

Moylan had four other shots just in that sequence alone; looks dangerous. Jovon really does need to work on those one-on-ones.

Jovon quite simply isn’t good enough and it’s going to be tough for him to earn another deal.
Missed alot of chances in the games he played in the first team too.

Draper is the same age and miles ahead.

The fact Draper is ahead of him says more about Draper than Makama.

Just as a comparison Blackburn in the Championship have Jack Vale on a contract and he is 3 years older than Makama.

Yes, he can improve his finishing but he keeps giving himself chances to miss them because he is big, fast and has decent control.

...time is still very much on his side.

Jovan needs a loan at a decent club where he has chances to score goals and get some confidence.

Very surprised he wasn’t loaned to the Drogs. Would have been an ideal move for him.

Plenty of skill on show from Jovon, needs one to go in to see how that affects his confidence. Time on his side to see whether he can improve his finishing but if not eventually an out and out striker he has plenty of skills to fall back on as somebody driving with the ball from deeper.

He has carried and laid the ball off better than most this season when it has actually been played into him (his strengths) rather than over head height or into space to chase (currently weaknesses). A good coach will find a way to play to his strengths and work on his weaknesses.

Jack Vale was a Welsh u21 international and was scoring against West Ham last season.

A little bit different to someone who couldn’t get in the Brackley squad last season.

Let’s see where he ends up….

I assume we have a striker coach who can advise on composure, timing of shots, dummying a finish to fool the keeper/defender, etc? That’s the sort of coaching he needs - would be a tremendous breakthrough if he could start hitting the beck of the net.

Maybe one thing nobody considers when talking of loans to Drogheda, is perhaps they don't want some that are offered.

One of the (many) good things we've done down the years is keep hold of promising players a little longer because it used to be a case of hitting 16 or 18 and releasing them but now we're prepared, and can afford, to keep them a little longer and loan them out because every develops at a different pace.

if we don't have that striker coach, walker and house could be helping with that knowledge. alternatively, someone i would be looking at getting in for consultations would be matt rhead. he had great technique. great at shielding the ball, at reading the flight of a ball for headers, laying the ball off... all things makama (and the other young strikers) would benefit from more insight into.
