So you guys think its ok that the poor have no choice but to pay tax but the rich can basically do whatever they want?
And our government has spent the last 10 years saying we are skint and the poor must be further punished for this, while totally failing to close loopholes or collect what they are owed by billionaires.
Sure I don't blame Hamilton, Jimmy Carr or any of the rest of em, but our tax system punishes the poor, who if they miss a single council tax payment can look forward to aggressive bailiffs showing up at their door, while the rich just need to buy someone dinner and then get to pay 0 tax.
Hamilton supports BLM but in refusing to pay the correct amount of tax, he is denying justice to poor black people who are on the arse end of the underfunded criminal justice system, often unable to have a free solicitor because of CUTS to legal aid, caused by our country apparently not having enough money.
So until he pays his fair share, maybe he should fuck off trying to pretend he cares about issues.
One question though seriously:
If Hamilton shouldn't have to pay tax because he's good at driving cars, what about a nurse who saved 50 lives last year? Should they pay tax?
This isn't really the issue here, our angry friend has just brought a discussion about a sport he has little interest in round to something he can rant about. He got mullered on the Jewish argument and ran a mile, now feels like he needs a "win".
No one likes the way the tax system works for the rich.
But come on; let's not pretend that the working class are uniformally hammered by it.
Doing cash in hand jobs on the side, not declaring your full income and milking the tax system is just as much an intrinsic part of working class economic culture as it is amongst the super wealthy.
I guarentee you and JC know working class people who do this on a weekly basis and you say shit all about it. Huge numbers who work for themselves in manual trades avoid at least some tax, and some avoid absolutely huge amounts of it.
I walk around my area, which is primarily manual tradesmen. I see all the plumbers, electricians, builders etc with a Mercedes or two on the drive and an extension being built and I wonder how accurate that self assessment form is? Not very I reckon.
So come off it, let's not pretend that tax dodging only happens at the top end; the top end just do it on a financially (but not necessarily proportionally) bigger scale and know how to do it more legally.
It is the poor saps like me on PAYE who are "exploited" because there is nothing we can do to fiddle the system.
Hamilton is a brilliant driver earning a lot of money, but in a career that ends by the time he is 40 I'm not surprised that he lives in Monaco to keep as much of his life income as possible. That doesn't mean I condone it; but he isn't robbing anyone in his methods; he doesn't pay British tax because he doesn't live here anymore, he lives in Monaco. I would too if I could afford it.
Why should I have more problem with Hamilton than the Roofer up the road who earns 1/2 or 2/3 what I do but has a new Tesla on the drive and holidays abroad twice a year?
