Lancs to Carlisle overnight? Surely the epitome of a "slowcoach".Tucking into a superb breakfast at England`s best service area - Tebay, on a beautiful, sunny, early Saturday morning during the long overnight coach ride to Carlisle United.

That 1 0 was the jammiest Gills win I've ever seen. They were miles clear at the top too.2:1 at Orient to stay in division 3, 1970 ish
1:0 at Palace mid-1970 ish
Yes sometimes the chippy with Leeds otherwise watford gap. On the long trips it would be a longer stop at a service station where the football always came out. What year(s) did you travel with John Leeds?

Sorry Lancs. It was a lame attempt at a joke about travelling from Lancashire to Cumbria overnight being a slow journey. Obvioisly you were in Kent at the time.Back in the day Carlisle away was always an overnighter with the coach leaving the Gills Social Club around 10pm ish. Even Torquay away was an overnighter back in the day ! T`was good fun, a coach load of Gills fans kicking a ball around on the beach at Torquay at around 8am !!!!!
Just remembered the funny time at home to Walsall, when at the Rainham End, their goalkeeper turned around to look at us, he had a 'horror mask' on. The amusing Freddy Barber. We ended up breaking out with 'Freddy wants to go home' to the intrigue of other fans standing on the Gordon Road terrace!
He was. A few of us have him a Christmas Card back in the day. He was amused and actually seemed quite grateful.Absolute legend is Freddie Barber. Lot of love for him from the RE back then.
Also Ipswich in the FACup in 1985( ?) 2 down and John Leslie and Mel Sage equalising but losing 3-2 eventually
Hess' shot was heading straight for me but fortunately the net got in the way.
You must have been standing next to me!
