We were once on holiday with some Americans and firstly they were amazed that we'd not been invited to 'William and Kate's Wedding' - English so obviously 'must' have gone! And then they wanted to know which castle we lived near! So, we said 'Boston Castle' is at the other side of town to us. And we told them the story about the Tea Party and the connection. But all they were interested in was that we lived 'near a castle'!!!
I dread to think what American kids are taught about history at school - probably shown Walt Disney films like "Robin of Sherwood" where Sherwood Forest has giant Redwoods, racoons and big waterfalls .
