Match Thread: Lincoln City v Bristol Rovers

Please be careful what you wish for. Peterborough United terminated their contract with BBC Cambridgeshire at the beginning of the season. To listen to their matches with the new broadcaster they were charging £5 a match or £6.50 for the month. They have since rowed back on that and it may be...

Match Thread: Lincoln City v Derby County

I've watched Brighton at Forest a couple of times and, even at my level of understanding, you could see what you called "patterns of play" in open play. They must spend hours on it.

Match Thread: Lincoln City v Derby County

I am envious of you having the input of someone with a deep knowledge and understanding of the game at that level. The TV analysis of games is frustrating as it is often reduced to clichés such as "No commitment" or "didn't track back". It be interesting to see how Taylor matches up against...

    Pre Season Training

One other thought. Didn't Morgan Whittaker start his career at Derby although he is from the Fulbeck area. Perhaps Derby scouted the Lincolnshire area and the lads, who have moved from their academy, may have been "locals"? Just a theory, mind.

I would be referring to the early version. I probably have started reading it c.1957.

    Pre Season Training

Was it not an U23 team? They certainly were not fully mature in physical development. I understood there were a couple of relative new lads from the Derby County academy, which has closed. On a very dry and hard pitch one of the ex Derby players had a some nice touches, especially in the first...

    An Update From Liam Scully

I take your point. I took the information, for the Ukrainians and Dutch, directly from the RAF Museum website, see below. I have undertaken no further research or reading beyond that and, therefore, do not know, specifically, where the data comes from. Having said that, it would have originated...

    Toffolo

Jeff Smith was pretty stylish. Two and a half seasons at the second level of English football and 351 appearances for the Imps. When relegated in 1961, the Daily Mirror commented that there were "several talented players in the side – notably young inside right Roger Holmes and sound left back...

Rate the ref v Peterborough United (Home)

Ref was worth 7. Must be extremely difficult to to suss out who is holding in the attacker v defender tussles. Refs are not helped by players diving or feigning injury. Harry Toffolo, who I rate, has in the last two games, been beating the turf and waving his arm as though he has broken a leg...

Match Thread: Lincoln City v Peterborough United

Spot on re Eisa and Maddison. I have watched Posh four times this season and Eisa looks lightweight but does have the knack of scoring goals. Toney does the hard yards for him, I think, but clubs will take a punt on goalscorers. Conor Washington went from Posh to QPR for a rumoured £2.5/£3...

9 Neil Franklin. When Endsleigh sponsored the Football League members of the NAS/UWT teacher union were able to contact a local Ensleigh Insurance office and obtain tickets for that office's local team. I secured tickets for a Stoke game for myself and my son at the old Victoria Ground. When...
