Nothing lifts me like a visit to vital :banana:

Would prefer players in by now but so long as they arrive before window closes I'd be happy enough, assuming it's of the calibre if player we're being liked with.
 
Sometimes wonder what games people are watching when they dismiss Yates and Cafu as rubbish.

Solid Championship midfielders in my book. Sure, we could do better, but if we can't get Garner-grade players in, these two with Carvalho should be able to take us at least to the January window before we cast them aside.

God the season hasn't started and the great Yates debate kicks off again. I'm with you Pebble, I really don't know how all managers since Mon have had him in the side, and yet people question him, they can't all be wrong. He's probably never going to be a world beater, but invaluable at our level, and there is improvement in him yet. if only people would get off his back

We have been very patient

But the chances of signing players who can bed in and make an impact in early August are slimming towards zero.

The manager himself is now saying that the situation is far from ideal. That is Hughton speak for "it's fucked up"

When you have at least some players slotting into your team for pre season so you can use them.

When you have senior specialist fullbacks.

When you have players who can make goals and players that can score them as a team.

How long till the fans start booing, imagine if there was fans in last season the boos would have been deafening almost every game. He can't keep this negative football going forever if its not even gaining points, sounds like that's exactly what we are playing tonight.

Given CH is lumbered with Yates, a midfield dynamo who requires fourteen touches and 5 mins to decide how to continue an attack, he's kinda fooked trying to introduce any form of flow or forward impetus.

Maybe but he doesn't need to always play 2 more defence minded cm, maybe against stronger sides but we need to be more positive against the teams at the lower end of the table.

Hughton's last interview was not optimistic at all.

Alarm bells absolutely should be ringing. We are never so far from progress this late in pre season.

It would be different if we already had a team that could cope in the SBC. We could at least express disappointment at a lack of progress.

But this team will be relegated. It could easily have been last season when it had 12 extra players.

The team we have now is nowhere near championship quality but I am watching the rest of the Championship and there is little movement elsewhere so hopefully Mao is right and things are happening behind the scenes which will come to fruition soon.

We have 2.5 weeks before our first game which is not a lot of time to get players bedded in and I would be shocked if all our business was done by then which is worrying given the current state of our squad.

I understand all that.

But there are a lot of teams in the championship who can afford to balls up the transfer window without it threatening their championship status.
