Jas trains with us so Appleton will be able to make a judgement.

I would question why he is only deemed good enough for the bench at Boston, but might suddenly become effective in L1.

I must say that you are capable of much better too Notty .Regrettably however due to your recent affiliation with an aggressive bearded Knob that masquerades as an Imp but is living in exile , I must refer to as Pitty Mon .Other variations are available. Shame though ,I always thought you were ok

Baffangool, Nobfather.

It's not whether he would be effective or not in League One.
It's more simple facts.
We only have two strikers.
If either one gets injured or suspended at any point, then there is currently no alternative until January at the earliest.
It is entirely possible that such a problem could happen from any game in September onwards.
So whether JAS is good enough or not, he would have been the only other option.
Now, and for over three more months, we haven't got anyone else, good or bad.

By all means, send him out on loan if we had signed another centre forward, but we didn't.
So he shouldn't have gone in my opinion.
And as pointed out he is now cup tied too.

Sorry if I missed il it, but who did the fans vote asman of the match after that shower?

Surely Toff, if anyone.

Unfortunately today was another reminder that, as harsh as it sounds, Vickers isn't a good enough goalkeeper for league 1. Don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic shot stopper, but he just can't command his box and that massively affects his back four. He doesn't know when to come or go and he makes late decisions, the back four don't seem to trust him.

That’s interesting as I don’t necessarily think we are being pressed high. For me, teams are letting us have the ball safe in the knowledge we can’t do anything with it. They sit deep, wait for us to lose possession and then run through our ineffectual midfield and statuesque back 4. In the currently unlikely event of us putting a challenge in they can always just shoot and wait for Vickers to escort it in.
To me, it’s looked clear from Wycombe onwards that the way to stop us is smother Payne and Morrell as quickly as possible as this completely cuts off the supply to Walker and our wingers. If anyone needed to know why we’re not creating anything, that’s probably as good a reason as any.

His confidence for whatever reason looks shot to pieces. Should be taken out of the firing line for Smith, who did well in the cup games and would be deserving of a chance.

Like everyone else I was as disappointed and angry at yesterday's performance (not the score - we got what we deserved). I thought the fans at the game were absolutely magnificent to stick with the team. Interesting that Thommo refused to name a MoM and gave it to the fans. The bigger disappointment for me is the reaction on here by some posters who immediately go on a knee-jerk attack and get all defeatist. Get real guys - look where we are currently. We have a new manager with an apparently good footballing philosophy and tactics (who successfully managed Oxford not long ago) so we'll see how he goes. We just have to accept that we are now a club in transition, in every sense of the word. We have a difficult set of fixtures coming up so its not going to be easy for MApp. Personally I'd be more worried if I supported Portsmouth at the moment given their fanbase, squad and resources. I think, realistically, we all had slight worries about our ability to succeed in this division with the squad we have, but they are definitely capable of 'consolidating' and winning a reasonable number of games, with the right leadership and guidance. After all, you only have to look at some of the incredibly impressive performances the team has turned in in the last couple of years, particularly against teams from a higher level. We know they are capable, they just have to get over the Cowleys and believe in themselves again and in MApp. So lets give them a chance - might take half a dozen games but lets have some patience and reality. Lets see where we are going come the middle of November. By then MApp will start to be having a clear idea for the January window. Just hope there is some money to support him.

Also in agreement there is a lot of nonsense written on here after that performance. Some general observations.

The biggest area of unbalance in our squad is generally agreed to be the lack of strikers.. hardly relevant in todays game, so not sure how our unbalanced squad was to blame for conceding 6.

Apparantly this result 'has been coming' ..i guess it was so obviously ''coming" that noone bothered to point it out while the Cowleys were here.

Cowleys jumped ship because they saw this coming? Again this is just revisionism..Cowleys left because their salary is now enormous and they get to manage in the championship. As would 99.9% of other people in their situation.

Cowleys are to blame for todays result? Yeah maybe, but two promotions, a Wembley cup win, quadrupling the crowds and significantly developing the infrastructure just about leaves them in credit.. so lets leave out the bitterness.

On the whole i maintain we have a very good squad that are now temporarily shot of confidence and also, understandably unsure of how they will fit in MA plans.. nothing a couple of weeks wont sort out.. although Id say the biggest worry is the form and fitness of our 3 most experienced players, Bostwick, Shackell and Eardley.

Lack of strikers is relevant in the forthcoming games as we don't seem to have many options!. As has been said on a previous msge injuries and suspensions will drop us right in it. Before there were goals coming from the squad, even thats dried up.

For my sins, I just decided to watch back the ‘highlights’. Vickers’ dive for their 4th is absolutely hilarious. He ends up absolutely miles away from his goal.

Today’s result was the Cowley hangover.

We clear our heads and go again

Funny you should say hangover, I didn't believe it when they told me but someone who knows one of the players said some of them went for a big night out after the game on Tuesday. Fits in with this performance now.

Must have been a cracking night on the razz if they were still suffering yesterday. Then again some of these kids can't handle their liquor!

Issues I have with the previous management duo.

1) Having a squad that was ridiculously unbalanced. 10 midfielders and two strikers. They had the option of keeping Adebayo-Smith so as he could learn his trade by being a regular sub, or even the odd start or two.
.

I mentioned this earlier on but I'll repeat it. The squad is not unbalanced, that is simply not true.

We do not have 10 midfielders. Anderson, Andrade, Payne and Grant are forwards/wingers. We have six midfield players, three of whom are more defensive minded and three more attacking.

Lincoln City cannot afford three good quality strikers. As for JAS, he doesn't even start games for Boston.

So we seem to have gone to the best squad ever assembled at this club after the Southend game to a turd of a squad.
Who on here would have thought that we would sit top half of League 1 today three years ago
Today was a terrible performance and result but matches like this do come along and as a long term City supporter I've had to endure them with far worse players than we currently have
Bit of perspective needed chap

We’ve 1 point from the last 5 league games and just been dismantled 6 - 0 at home. I have perspective. I too have seen many theoretically worse players, but not many of them managed to lose 6 - 0 at home. I’m not sure we all thought it was the best squad ever assembled, some of us were slightly confused by the continual signing of small, ball playing midfielders, were concerned about the lack the pace in the defence, the average age of our 2 first choice centre backs, or only having 2 strikers. I think MA has got a big job on his hands trying to stop the rot until January when he can attempt to make some changes.

Complete and utter freak result. End of.
Sadly, it wasn’t really a freak performance though. As I remember, we forced Oxford’s keeper into one fairly routine save (Anderson first half) and that was that in terms of efforts on goal. That therefore matched up with Bristol Rovers the week before when our only meaningful effort got saved by their defender in the early minutes.

If you don’t create chances, you don’t win games. End of.
