Wycombe, just got back.

We were very well welcomed when we arrived, their fans and stewards were helpful and what a great idea to provide a beer tent and drinking area for away supporters. Shortish queues and pleasant area to drink in. Also one of their club staff came round and handed out A4 sized team sheets to everyone who wanted one. :clappy:

Was great to be back in the League in a decent away stand with the Imps providing a good atmosphere. We out-sang the Wycombe support throughout the game.

The game started very slowly, as expected quite a lot of long ball but it was still enthralling. Too much falling over from both sides and then in the best piece of worked football Green slips the ball into the net from a measured cross from Arnold. Scenes, hugging, singing, The Dambusters: we were back. It didn't last however, and two dreadful defensive errors, put them in front before half time. The first, a completely free header, will not have pleased the Cowleys. The second, from an unnecessary free kick for which Alan Power would have been pilloried, went through or under a disintegrating wall. In short, we had gifted them the lead.

After five minutes of the second half we bossed it in midfield, the centre half's took more control and a much improved Ginnelly put away a good goal after a delightful through ball from Woodyard. After that Wycombe settled for a point and seemed there for the taking. A little more urgency and luck and we just might have secured all the points.

At the end virtually all the Imps stayed to sing and clap their team, included was a quick appreciation for Gareth Ainsworth. It took a good while to leave the ground and Danny came over to provide the late departures with photos and selfies.

A great day but the majority probably left slightly disappointed with just the one point. Nevertheless it was a great day out and the building blocks are there.

it took us 45 minutes to acclimatise. quick learners our bunch.

i think we were a bit shell-shocked for the first half. wycombe were very physical, pushing/shoving and getting to the ball a bit quicker than we were used to. but maybe that took a lot out of ww, because second half we were much better; they tired very quickly and hardly threatened.

only one team were going to win towards the end. akinfenwa doesn't challenge for headers, he just pushes the centre half.

looked like ours were told at half time to be more brave with the ball and play a more measured passing game - and it worked well. brilliant support again. first test passed.

lots to look forward to based on the second half improvement. uti.

DC said in his Radio Lincs interview that the free kick took a massive deflection.

Watched it on the way back on the Sky Sports app (worth a download), didn't see a deflection. Could be wrong!

I was stood up the other end, but had a decent view, being in line. The ball looked like it was drilled very low to the left side of the goal. Went through a few bodies, but I didn't think there was a deflection. Farman didn't see it and just stuck a leg out.

Agree with Berksimps. A lovely day out. Wycombe were very welcoming. All the staff were very nice to us.
Walked into Adams Park to see a big Bar-b-q smoking away, and a large Marquee for us to get a drink. Lovely.

After seeing it in person and watching the highlights, it looked to me like the wall was positioned centrally with Farman stood directly behind them in the middle of the goal meaning he was completely unsighted. All their player had to do was pick a side of the goal to aim for. Very strange one.
