Who Remembers 71/72 promotion to Div 1

Yes I do. Very well.
Know every word of this song.
I will need to dig deep into my vinyl collection to find the original and also remember the B side Norwich City Calypso.
I will also need to dig out Something to Shout About which I have original with signed sleeve by several players including Greg Downs bought from Alley Cats.

I wasn’t a football fan in 1972 , but remember ‘Something To Shout About’ . I have still got my copy of the record which I bought from NCFC , and the You Tube song DG posted is taken from that very record

Counting up , I have seen us get promoted to the top division 3 times

1. 1981 when 13,000 of us went to Hillsborough and saw us promoted despite losing 2-1 . A great day !

2. In 1986 at Bradford’s Odsal stadium when we won 2-0 to go up

3. At Wembley in 2015 . Nuff said !!

My first match was Sept 1972 V Arsenal. We won 3-2. Terry Anderson scored the winner. I stood in the River End and I can honestly picture it like it was yesterday. It was the first time I was allowed to go to a match aged 11 but I went to most matches as a season ticket holder until aged nearly 20 before leaving for pastures new in 1980. A Norfolk girl born and bred, I found it incredibly difficult to leave my family and NCFC behind. The rest is history.

I tried to post this the other day but it was taken down by the channel shortly after I posted it. Hopefully better luck this time. First few minutes might be a bit choppy but get past that and it's fine.

In the directors box at Watford.......big following and playing in red.

Fantastic!

:grinning: :grinning:
Was also at this game aged 11 was soaking wet as it persisted with rain no cover for ncfc fans till we took watford end lol also the funniest thing ever witnessed at a football ground for me a ncfc fan got on the pitch before the game about ten coppers tried to catch him he knocked off the bobbys hat and volleyed it straight into the goal and managed to get back in the crowd i believe there was a 14 k crowd and 11k of those were ncfc the old bill never stood a chance us invading the pitch taking the watford end which was covered never seen a stand empty so quick lol with 11 k fans running at them from across the pitch

I was mud up to my knees by the time I got to the Rookery across the pitch, they certainly disappeared in a hurry, it rained so much and we were in the open end..however not for too long, CD your right there were about 11,000 of us down there.
I`ll fish out the pic that was originally in the EEN and put it up, got it on memory stick somewhere.

Speaking of who remembers.... just saw this image of a Norwich shirt being shared that I've never seen in my life. Can't find anything online for it either - anyone remember us playing in this?! Before my time definitely.

I have bought a shirt every year since 1980 including N and P sponsored ones but cannot remember this one at all.
