The vultures are circling looking to pick up a bargain at Pompey's expense. It would be great to keep the youngsters but those that go will go at the right price all being well.

Finally it appears that a decent amount of talented youngsters are coming through at Pompey, with a number now getting the chance to be involved in our 1st team and what is more they are doing the business!

Some of these players are hopefully going to be our long-term future, sadly it does seem like we will lose a few this summer though?

Jed Wallace (ok technically not one we brought through as such), Dan Butler and this weekend Adam Webster have been 'linked' with moves to clubs higher up the leagues...

We will probably do well to keep all of them this summer but hopefully PFC can at least be in a position where a real financial inability is not going to entirely mean that we will be shafted completely by these clubs with more financial muscle and lose them for peanuts!

If we are going to lose some, or all, of them lets hope we sell them for a price more representing their ability and potential eh.

This (players coming through and ultimately being sold) is what we need a large chunk of our future built upon really. It is never nice being a 'selling club' but the financial stability we could put ourselves in if we can continue to bring players through and then have the proceeds from their departures coming back into the club would be great.

In an ideal world we would keep Wallace, Butler and Webster this summer and they continue their development at Fratton but it is unlikely but we still have others coming through, such as Jack Maloney most recently that should be with us and excite us next season.

You would also like to think that those in charge these days will have the foresight to make deals that see players leave us with sell-on clauses put in place to benefit us more, potentially, down the lines as well!

Just imagine what a cash windfall we could see this summer if the likes of Asmir Begovic and Kevin-Prince Boateng make big money moves and we had included 10%, even 5% sell-on clauses...

PLAY UP POMPEY!

I am totally opposed to selling our new recruits firstly because we need them and because their value will be rich pickings for someone else while we remain stuck in the mud. Stability of the club has to be about football first and not the money. The Trust have presented a business plan to stabilise and restore the club's finances and fortunes on the field of play. If that includes breaking-up a winning team developing a winning mentality, particularly after the winless streak we have just been through, then I would have to say that would be a poor start. Please resist the urge to sell our new talent. At least challenge for promotion next season first because their value will increase.

Would be a shame to lose them, but ultimately it is what the player wants that wins out.

We should try & sell the benefits of first team football vs Academy / Reserve footer at a higher level, but it will be hard to keep someone at a club with no training ground & at the moment no certainty over whether we'll even start next season!!

I hope they stay, but I'd they do go hope we get some proper money for them.

i would love us to keep those talented kids we have coming through together here, and be our 1st team next season but the reality is we will lose some this summer...

my MAIN hope is, as i wrote, that we FINALLY do this in the right way and get the right amount of money for them and have the foresight to put in sell-on clauses that could be worth millions to us and SOOOOO important down the line.

I guess you are right. Player power is wot got the club in dire straits when all's said and done. I would still oppose selling emerging talent too early though. Guy needs to generate competitive football to get the punters in so it makes no sense to sell cheap and I don't think we will get proper money for them so I hope they stay and prosper at least another season.
