I just ask because a freind I have out there just tweeted a disturbing tweet. Anyone have news on the situation. 80?

Latest tweet.

Laura Stone, a reporter for Canada’s Global News, says she saw a man “getting CPR loaded into an ambulance”, and that she’s spoken with a witness who described the shooter as having a “huge rifle”.

Police are searching through buildings and have placed the area on lockdown, keeping reporters, MPs and civilians in various areas together and apparently under heavy guard.

Not many details yet but 2 days ago someone ran down and killed 2 soldiers.

And yesterday somebody was arrested in Kitchener before they managed to get into a government building.

The man who allegedly struck two soldiers with his car in Quebec and was killed after a police chase had become “radicalized” and was known to federal authorities, the Prime Minister’s Office said Monday.

The 25-year-old hit-and-run suspect was shot after a police chase Monday in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, located about 50 kilometres southeast of Montreal.

Before the chase ensued, he allegedly struck two members of the Canadian Armed Forces, who were on foot in a strip mall parking lot. One of the soldiers is now in critical condition, while the other suffered minor injuries.

After the two soldiers were struck by a car, the suspect drove off and was chased by police for about four kilometres, until his vehicle rolled into a ditch. Police said the suspect exited the car before he was shot.

A Quebec provincial police official says one of the soldiers and the suspect involved in a hit-and-run in Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Que. are in critical condition on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.

CTV News has confirmed that the suspect’s name is Martin Rouleau.
Although the Quebec provincial police refused to speculate Monday on the suspect’s motive, the PMO said he was “known to federal authorities, including the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team.

“Federal authorities have confirmed that there are clear indications that the individual had become radicalized,” the PMO said in a statement, noting that Prime Minister Stephen Harper was briefed on the situation by RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson, Chief of Defence Staff General Tom Lawson, and National Security Advisor Stephen Rigby.

“As Canada’s national security agencies have said, Canadians should remain vigilant,” Harper’s office said.

Conservative MP Randy Hoback was the first to suggest Monday that the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu incident was more than just a hit-and-run.
He rose during question period Monday to ask the prime minister about “unconfirmed reports of a possible terror attack.”

Harper said the government is aware of the “extremely troubling” reports.

“First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” he said during question period. “We’re closely monitoring the situation and we’ll make available all of the resources of the federal government.”

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Monday. After the two soldiers were struck by a car, the suspect drove off and was chased by police for about four kilometres, until his vehicle rolled into a ditch.
Police said the suspect exited the car before he was shot. A knife was later found on the ground at the scene, police said.
But even as the police investigation in Quebec was unfolding, Canadian Security Intelligence Service’s deputy director of operations was telling a Senate national security committee that the spy agency had “no information to indicate a terrorist attack is imminent."

Jeff Yaworski did, however, say that CSIS can’t cover all the bases when it comes to monitoring radicalized Canadians who have returned home. He said that’s why CSIS is prioritizing such cases

A gunman has been killed in Ottawa after three separate shootings in the nation's capital forced Parliament Hill into lockdown and gripped the city with fear.

Authorities confirmed shots had been fired inside Parliament, at the National War Memorial and near the Rideau Centre shopping mall. At least two people are reportedly injured.

Meanwhile, sources have confirmed to CTV News that a gunman has been killed. Ottawa police will not confirm if the three shootings are the work of a lone gunman. There are conflicting reports about the number of shooters involved.

Around noon on Wednesday, live video from outside the Rideau Centre showed officers clearing the area and blocking off roads.

The first reports of violence came just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, when gunfire erupted at the National War Memorial and a soldier was wounded.

Witnesses reported seeing a man with long hair and a rifle running towards Parliament Hill.

Video captured inside Parliament showed officers filing down the empty halls of the Hall of Honour as at least a dozen shots could be heard ringing out in the background.

Jason MacDonald, director of communications for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, tweeted that Harper was safe and had left the area.
Several MPs also took to Twitter to say that they were safe. Several described what they had heard, and many said they were in hiding.
MP Tony Clement tweeted that at least 30 shots were heard from inside the building, close to where the Conservatives and the Liberals hold their weekly caucus meetings.

The RCMP is advising people to stay away from the area, and people in downtown Ottawa are being told to stay away from windows and off of roofs.

The shooting comes two days after a man attacked two Canadian soldiers in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. One of those soldiers died from his injuries. The suspect was shot and killed by police.
On Tuesday, Canada raised the domestic terror threat level from low to medium.

Is this still going on, 80? Or have they caught all the shooters now?

Things seem to have calmed down a bit. Nothing concrete but ATM it appears to be a single individual. Higher security everywhere. Parliament resumes sitting today.

Hats off to our American friends who sang the Canadian National Anthem at the Pittsburgh - Philadelphia game last night.

And apparently it takes full on 24 hour news on 3 different TV stations to relay what I just put into 3 short sentences.
