Who said this and who was he talking about:

"Bert Loxley keeps telling me he's going to be a player but if he doesn't learn to finish better than he is at the moment he's going to have problems."

David Herd about young John Ward?

The finishing didn't improve much but that didn't seem to be a problem!

Obviously from when Bert was more coach than physio. The late 1960s, before Bert became manager: Ron Gray talking about Phil Hubbard?

Neither David Herd nor John Ward.

Roy Chapman, about Bert Loxley?

Seems unlikely considering he'd been a player for about as long as Chapman and had just retired. Having said that, he was called on to play a few more games due to other players being injured, so perhaps 'learning to finish better' could mean learning to finish playing better?

But neither individual is part of the required answer.

Fair enough - thought Loxley may have played a game or two with/under Chapman and it was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment - sufficient to fool us! Certainly fooled me!!

Something daft, like Willie Bell talking about Tommy Tynan (although they only overlapped by a few weeks).

Clue time?

Although never a really prolific striker his career record shows Bert Loxley to have been right about him.
