.....but think twice about getting in a taxi, especially you SG!

Tried to find a recent article, a particularly horrifying case where an Asian driver picked up a girl who passed out pissed in his cab. He called his uncle and his brother so all 3 of them could rape the girl....I hope I can find it but in the meanwhile here are a 'few' other cab stories that I am posting to prove they exist rather than merely in my head as some seem to think......

Not all rape cases but gives you some idea of just how low many Pakistani men here hold women....and gays for that matter

Coming up next, some closed food outlets due to abject failure of basic cleanliness

There are many more I believe but I'm struggling with the paper's search engine.

hot off the press today - you would give/lend someone you didn't know at all £350 wouldn't you?

more regulate them and drivers much, much better than currently - one of those links the guy already had a record for sexual assault. Surely that should should have prevented him getting a licence?

Isnt the only nailed down fact coming out this stay the hell away from cabs?

Sadly, we've also had multiple cases of this from Asian taxi's in our area, so much so that the female members of my household will only use a women only pre-booked taxi - but the point is well made, the 'rule' was extended to never being in a taxi on their own late at night.

Sad times.

update!!

If you didn't read some of the earlier links I'll just point out that 2 years ago 41% of Bradford cabs failed spot checks. You might also have read one of the other articles about how cab drivers responded by registering their cabs in Rossendale (Lancs) so they were not subject to Bradford Council regulations rather than fix the problems.......which BMDC had to stamp down on to protect passengers. Well anyway the Council have just run spot checks again ...............and 39% of cabs stopped failed the tests again.

MORE than a third of cabs are still failing random vehicle checks more than two years after Bradford Council introduced short-notice inspections, it has emerged.

A total of 44 out of 114 of these vehicles, or 39 per cent, failed the random inspections, carried out at up to 24 hours notice, between February 1 last year and January 30 this year.

This compares to 41 per cent that failed random inspections between August 12, 2013 and February 12, 2014.

Today, Bradford Council warned that it was "intensifying its focus" on the random test failure rate, while Bradford Private Hire Liaison Service described random testing as unfair and called for up to 48 hours' notice for drivers.

A Bradford Council spokesman said: "Representatives and operators continue to work closely with officers as the Service intensifies its focus on more serious vehicle failures and random test failure rate."

Of the most recent failures, 15 per cent received free re-tests for minor failure points and 24 per cent had multiple minor or more serious failure points.

Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that a quarter of cabs still do not pass planned tests first time, although the Council said that was an improvement on previous years.

Over the last year, Bradford Council carried out 2,850 annual tests, which had an overall 74 per cent pass rate.

This worked out as a ten per cent improvement in vehicle pass rates compared to the previous year.

But 467 vehicles failed on non-serious points and were re-tested for free.

Meanwhile, ten per cent failed on multiple minor points, or more serious points, and one vehicle failed on a serious safety critical point.

Minor faults on vehicles could include door sticker or visor missing, a side light out, a serious fault could be brakes, steering, suspension or more than five minor faults.

A Bradford Council spokesman said each test is assessed individually and where it is appropriate vehicles are removed from service. Random testing applies to vehicles which are over six years old.

Council officials say the improvement is in part a result of the joint working between the hire care, private hire service and the Association Trade Representatives, who represent the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Trades, as well as Private Hire Operators who are licensed within the Bradford district.

Bradford Council introduced the random checks in March 2013 and said if vehicles were found to have minor faults, the policy is to fix them and re-test. Those with a serious safety critical fault would be suspended and re-tested before being allowed back on the road.

Khurram Shehzad, Bradford Private Hire Liaison Service chairman, has called for up to 48 hours notice for drivers and cab firms from Bradford Council ahead of the inspection.

He said: "I don't think the random inspections are fair for drivers and firms.

"Drivers do maintain their vehicles on a daily basis and do record any minor faults.

"I think the council should give at least two days notice, rather than 12 or 24 hours.

"But the overall ten per cent improvement is pleasing.

"They are due to Bradford Council educating the taxi operators about checking their vehicles.

"All drivers have to carry out weekly checks on their vehicles.

"We do still need to improve on certain things with maintenance of cars.

"I am encouraged by these figures and I think we are going in the right direction.

"The cars on the road should be right at all times."

Shabbir Muir, a Hackney Carriage Owners and Drivers Association committee member, says the drivers have a responsibility to make sure all vehicles are roadworthy.

He said: "The council have a job to do to protect the public.

"We don't have any opposition to their testing policy.

"Our job is to make sure the cars are roadworthy.

"We encourage our drivers to make sure our vehicles are checked.

"We would agree that safety comes first for drivers and passengers.

"After two years, I think the random inspection scheme is still a work in progress."

What does the Koran say about rape on Kafirs.

It is allowed, the Koran says non-believers are worse than cattle, in short, the koran and the hadith pretty much allows them to treat non-muslim women anyway they want.

As Islam believes it is in a state of permanent war with all Kafirs, it's women can be treated as 'war booty' ...

Whilst "Westernised" Muslims may reel at these words and actions as directed by the Koran, the shame of course is all other Muslims believe that to deny the guidance of the Koran makes them apostates.

Nobody is going to convince me that this attitude to women and girls is not a major cultural one. Of course there could never be a profile based on cultural background but given that only around, say, 40,000 Asian men in Bradford the %age of these sort of stories is way, way above the national average. That is certainly the case for incidence of birth defects (mainly due to first cousin intermarriage).

Meanwhile back in taxi land, drivers are now complaining they are being 'picked on' by council workers checking their safety levels. Uh, try adhering to them instead eh?

I'm sure there are but this wasn't about football. It was about families who lost loved ones and overwhelmingly the faces I saw were white. This was the respect being shown of the City as a whole.

What did immigration really cost us?...

Immigration from outside Europe 'cost £120 billion'
New report shows immigration from outside Europe over the Labour government years cost the public purse billions of pounds, while recent migration from inside Europe generated a £4 billion surplus

Immigration has had a major effect on British households, a report says Photo:
By David Barrett, Home Affairs Correspondent

Immigrants who came to live in Britain from outside Europe cost the public purse nearly £120 billion over 17 years, a new report has shown.

The major academic study also found, however, that recent immigration from Europe – driven by the surge in arrivals from eastern European – gave the economy a £4.4 billion boost over the same period.

Experts from University College London also said native Britons made a negative contribution of £591 billion over the 17 years – because of the country’s massive deficit.

The report analysed figures from 1995 to 2011, during most of which the Labour government was pursuing vigorously pro-immigration policies.

It found that migrants from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) made a negative contribution to the public purse of £117.9 billion because they consumed more in public expenditure – including NHS costs, welfare hand-outs and education – than they contributed in taxes.

The report, published in the Economic Journal, said the non-EEA group – largely made up of immigration from countries such as India, Pakistan and African Commonwealth countries – contributed less because families tended to have more children and lower employment rates.

"Immigrants from non-EEA countries ... contribute less than they receive,” the 50-page study concluded.

The native population made a negative contribution in 12 years during the period, running to £591 billion in total, as the British economy ran at a deficit.

Immigrants from within the EEA – which is the European Union plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein - took out more than they paid in during only seven of the 17 years.

It meant European migrants made an overall positive contribution to the British economy of £4.4 billion over the period.

Since 2000 European migrants were 43 per cent less likely than native Britons to receive benefits or tax credits, and 7 per cent less likely to live in social housing, the report said.

The authors – whose research has previously been criticised by the right of centre think-tank Civitas and by MigrationWatch UK, which campaigns for tighter immigration laws – emphasised their findings on the contribution of European migrants and gave less prominence to the findings on the costs of non-EEA immigration.

Professor Christian Dustmann, of UCL’s Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration, and a co-author of the report, said: “A key concern in the public debate on migration is whether immigrants contribute their fair share to the tax and welfare systems.

“Our new analysis draws a positive picture of the overall fiscal contribution made by recent immigrant cohorts, particularly of immigrants arriving from the EU.”

Sir Andrew Green, chairman of MigrationWatch, said the report confirmed the huge cost of immigration.

"As for recent European migrants, even on the authors' own figures - which we dispute - their contribution to the Exchequer amounts to less than £1 a week per head of population," he said.

David Green, director of Civitas, said the new report suffered from a “shallow focus” which “misses out some vital costs”.

Between 1995 and 2011 the foreign-born population in the UK doubled from 3.5 million to about 7 million.

The non-EEA population grew from 2.8 million to 4.6 million during the period. Of those, in 2011, just over two million were not working, either because they were unemployed or for other reasons such as retirement or childcare.

At the same time the number of European immigrants in this country grew at a far higher rate, tripling from 723,000 to 2.3 million.

That huge surge was mainly due to the previous Labour government’s decision not to impose controls on the eight eastern Europeans, including Poland, which joined the EU in 2004.

The method used in the new report to work out the “net fiscal contribution” of different groups calculated how much they cost in terms of government funds, such as medical expenses, schooling their children and the welfare state.

The total was then deducted from their overall contribution to the public purse, including income tax, National Insurance, VAT, council tax and business rates.

Meanwhile a separate study published by the Office for National Statistics exposed the full extent of language ghettoes in this country.

New analysis of the 2011 Census showed that around 90 per cent of elderly Bangladeshi-born women living in the UK cannot speak English.

And almost four in 10 Chinese-born migrants who settled in the UK more than 30 years ago had no English.

David Hanson, the shadow immigration minister, said: “This report shows that immigration since 2001 has contributed to the public finances as well as to the economy.

"However the impact of different kinds of immigration varies and the system needs to be fair - so we need stronger border controls to tackle illegal immigration and stronger action against employers who use immigration to undercut local wages and jobs, but we should welcome international university students who bring in billions.”
