Saw the first 35 minutes but was bored. Not great performances by either side, Brighton maybe looking more composed. Too many misplaced passes. We had an irritating habit of taking free kicks in the wrong place, so had to retake, or kicking the ball away if the other side had a free kick. Free kicks being rushed when other players weren't ready for it. I gather it improved in the second half.

Aston Villa's Under 23 tie against Ipswich Town at the beginning of the week saw us fall to defeat in the Premier League Cup competition.
