Opens on Thursday.
With only a 12 week window the club need to move quicker than previous seasons.
I'm assuming the retained list is imminent.
 
I wonder how far negotiations with those they want to keep have progressed. Byrne seemed to suggest they were ongoing.

I do hope we do our core business nice and early. Have the core together for a really good pre-season.

It is possible that some have received take it or leave it deals and will be allowed to leave if they do not want what is on offer .There are a few players that maybe wanted but only at the right price.
 
Also there will be players whom are wanted, they want an improved deal. Every League 1 and 2 will be looking to save on wages, so a lot of negotiations could well be drawn out. There are very few clubs run by benefactors anymore, almost all want to at least brake even so wages or squad sizes could well be cut. There could be a glut of free agents available.
 
We should look to get our business done early if possible to allow the squad to gel during pre season.
Then we need a good start to the new season.
