London North Eastern Railway say the collision was a 'low speed derailment' involving two Azuma trains and no one has been injured.
Services between Leeds, Lincoln and London have been affected and residual disruption is expected to last until early evening.
LNER have confirmed that some services between Leeds and London King's Cross will be cancelled and some services between Lincoln and London King's Cross will be cancelled or amended so that they do not run between Lincoln and Newark Northgate.
