They're at it again

From a member of a supporters organisation that was in the meeting with the Prime Minister today and was interviewed on Radio 4, he said that the PL and FA absolutely have the appropriate clauses in their agreements with the clubs to expel them. Boris is promising them that he will amend competition laws to negate that avenue should the clubs oppose their being expelled.
The key to this may rest with UEFA - discussions with their legal teams are taking place right now. If UEFA decides to expel the twelve from its membership, they cannot play in any UEFA sanctioned competition anyway (i.e. it takes the decision out of the hands of the PL and FA).

If the FA and Premier expel them then the ESL is pretty much dead on arrival...

Clive on Sky Sports News now. Speaking passionately about his anger at the clubs and how encouraged he is with the blanket opposition from all quarters.

Clive saying there should be powers and measures such as taxation to stop this. He is concerned that football authorities have been too weak to react to greedy clubs and is calling for direct government action/intervention, punishment and measures to ensure the clubs never go down this route again.

CN - difficult to divorce the owners of the clubs and the fans where punishments are concerned. Would like to see supporters boards introduced within clubs and measures going forward like not selling off stadiums, in a wider ranging overview of the game.

CN - I wouldn't believe anything that comes out of the owners of these (big 6) clubs. There has been no trickle down of funds previously promised.

CN - It creates massive uncertainty throughout the entire pyramid from other PL clubs down. It is crazy what these clubs are doing.

He also mentioned an article this morning highlighting that the amount of money that 'may' trickle down the football pyramid would actually be less than at present.

James Corden is as big a knob as those owners. Can't stand the bloke...........however his point is pretty accurate and what he means is too.

There is a reason that you have that avatar and I have a print of that on my wall...............because it means something to us. It isn't a Lowry of Bolton's old ground.........or a Manchester scene. It is a lesser known painting by a famous painter and we chose it because it is of OUR city. It has a special meaning for us over more famous options.

Fuck the 6.............oh and fuck Shipman too. He probably has some generic print of Brooklyn Bridge on his wall instead.

The age-old problem is how to separate the actions of the owner from the club itself. We saw this with Bury in 2019 where the club had been run recklessly by a head in the sky dreamer for six years before being sold to a notorious asset-stripper for zilch when the financial juggling could no longer keep the balls in the air. The club as an entity bears the consequences of course, but what other way is there?

I don't know where that quote comes from @Chesterimp - considering practically all football clubs exist as technically insolvent, but up to the Covid outbreak Real Madrid - due to it's gargantuan size and had made year-on-year profits.

As at the end of the 2018-19 season they actually had net funds, not net debt. They have, however spent £500m renovating their stadium.

Over two seasons Covid will have cost them 400m euros in lost revenue.

Now, I shed no tears for them, but I don't know why some of these myths get aired

Real Madrid have for years lived off deals with Madrid government and mayor favours. Like all of these rich clubs that are now "within" FFP rules they aren't. It is all fakery. The whole premise of "we are owned by the fans." Are they? Are we 50% "owned by the fans?" Are we the ones stumping up the investments to keep us going? It's a nice idea but at the end of the day no matter how much the ideal of "owned by" is used the reality is that the de-facto rulers at the big money clubs are the ones that are at the top making the decisions and putting the money in (or siphoning off in some cases.)

The actual "owned by the fans" in our case is a safety mechanism. It stops some Billy Big bollocks from taking over and stripping the club.

In Barca and Real Madrid's model the fans are more like members of a club and if the President fucks things up then they are left with nothing just like any small club like Bury.

If these big clubs were any other business and these debts were called in they would be fucked and the day that the back handers and clever accounting of quite often state funds (UK PL teams furloughing low earning staff is just a small example over here) is pulled up for what it is these clubs would be on the precipice.

This is why they want their mega leagues and mega paydays on top of their already mega domestic deals.........because there will come a time when they can longer rely on being able to fund their toy clubs with other people's money. To maintain their ridiculous overspends (because they have to strive for improvement year on year to stay at the top) they need to find viable "sustainable" options to replace the dark money, leveraged finances and outright theft from the public they have built their model on.

None of these clubs have sustainable models. They rely on an ever increasing share of the Ponzi to keep them afloat and once the Ponzi bursts they are all fucked and will end up taking all those below with them.

The clubs have sold their souls to the devils. It is a shame for their 'true' supporters (not the ones sat on their arses in christ knows where globally), but sanctions cannot just be levied against the owners
