Academy graduates Emeka Obi, Adam Long and Chris Merrie all make their league debuts for the club, as does summer signing Viv Solomon-Otabor.


Joe Garner captains Latics against his former club, with fellow former Tractor Boy Gary Roberts also in the starting XI, whilst another ex-Ipswich man, Patrick Webber, is amongst the substitutes.


Olly Crankshaw, Kyle Joseph, Alex Perry, Charlie Jolley, Thelo Aasgaard and Webber make up the bench, alongside goalkeeper Owen Evans, with all seven players having featured at various levels in Latics' Academy.


Latics remain without Gavin Massey, who has a leg muscle injury and continues his recovery.


New short-term contracted players Danny Fox and Josh Clarke are not involved.


Former Latics midfielder Emyr Huws is on the bench for the hosts.

Think many of the lads we've got on short term deals and on trial had serious injury problems. I guess if they hadn't they probably would have better options than us in our situation. So it's not a suprise if some of them get injured so quickly.

Just got to hope a couple of them can stay fit and regain their form.
