What seemed a few weeks ago to be a relatively easier run of fixtures has turned out to be anything but, as we struggle from game to game.

Our last win was the Cardiff match and we’ve been unable to replicate that form since. The teams below us seem to be hitting form just when we are about to play them, Sheff Wed and QPR, and now Stoke.

Stoke’s Alex Neil was sacked 10 Dec 23 after 16 months in charge.

Steven Schumaker was plucked from Plymouth Argyle and appointed 19 Dec 23. Since then he has 6 wins and 9 defeats in his 20 games in charge, a 33% win ratio

Last 6 matches:

Swans W1 D2 L3 F4 A6

Stoke W2 D2 L2 F7 A8

Swans last 6 home:

W2 D0 L4 F5 A9

Stoke last away:

W2 D0 L4 F7 A10

(They’ve won their last two away matches at Hull and Preston)

Stoke are just one point behind us in the table on 46 points and will leapfrog us if they win. We are 5 points ahead of Sheff Wed and Birmingham who occupy two of the relegation spots, Rotherham are already down, with 5 games left.

The lethargic form of late is a mystery. A lot of the players contracts are up this summer and you’d think they’d be fighting like mad to get a new one, but their play recently suggests the opposite.

Luke Williams needs to get a grip on this squad, no more mister nice guy, and motivate them to play out of their skins to get the wins needed for us to get out of this mess, starting on Wednesday night.

Well done Swansea. At last a performance for the fans to be proud of. It was full of commitment and determination and the complete opposite of the last few games.
